Rob De Castella finished four Olympic marathons but not with medals. 1980 10th 2:14, 1984 5th 2:11, 1988 8th 2:13, 1992 26th 2:17.

With his dominance in the marathon, I think Kipchoge will still be the favourite in Paris (Tokyo's Gold is pretty much secured at this point), after all he will just be 39 in 2024, and that would be 5 medals.

Which track event does Phelps compete on?
The run like a doofus and fall flat on your face event.
Didn't Carl Lewis (USA) fail multiple drug tests? I've always put him in the Waldemar Cierpinski (GER) camp.

You're thinking about Ben Johnson, who beat Lewis. Carl Lewis then got hammered by the media when he basically accused Johnson of doping. Everyone called it sore grapes at the time.
No, of course I know Ben Johnson (CAN)... lots of talk behind the scenes of Lewis being a user and being caught but covered up for, much like a Lance Armstrong/cycling scenario.

Karel Lismont finished four and won two medals. Silver and Bronze or two Silver depending on your point of view.

After the wall fell records from the GDR doping machine were released showing that Cierpinski was definitely on the sauce.
+1
Cierpinski was dirty and official EG records proved it.
Don Kardong is still pissed that he hasn't gotten his medal.

Dan Kardong should be the gold medalist, as he was the first clean athlete to finish.

Waldemar was very likely a drug cheat, meaning that Shorter should have won back-to-back golds in Montreal.

From ESPN article: "Things changed in 1998, when a German scientist, Dr. Werner Franke, managed to get into the archives of Stasi, East Germany's secret police force. By the time the GDR collapsed, Stasi's spooks had managed to destroy most of its incriminating paperwork, but not a file on State Plan 14:25, which Dr. Franke uncovered at the Stasi headquarters in Leipzig. State Plan 14:25 contained details of East Germany's drug program for its Olympic athletes. The file implicated many gold medalists, five of them winners in track and field in Montreal. Cierpinski's name was at the top of Page 105. He was No. 62."

Pretty much secured? Kipchoge has a far, far better chance of winning gold than anyone else in the men's marathon, but more than 2 years out, I'd bet a lot of money against him winning gold. There are a lot of things that could go wrong between now and then and on race day in the marathon.
Speculating about him winning in 2024 is ridiculous.

Even though Bekele and Farah have 4 medals, they both earned them over two Olympic games. Kipchoge already has 3 medals from 3 different Olympics, which seems to be rare. The only other guys I can think of with medals from 3 olympics are guys like Bolt, Lewis, Johnson, and Gatlin.
Al Oerter WON 4 straight gold medals in the discus. Carl Lewis WON 4 straight gold medals in the long jump. Viktor Saneyev won three straight TJ gold medals and a silver in his final Oly appearance. How old are you btw?
Valerie Adams has 3 OG medals so far (2G, 1S). If she continues a few more years she will win another medal, no doubt. Easily the most dominate female track and field athlete this century. The last time she didn't win a medal at a global final was in the 2004 Olympics.
A shame letsrun forgets about her. She's a damn great character too.

Are there any male athletes who have won non-relay track (not field) medals at 4 Olympic games. I took at least the track part to be given
It sickens me to hear any praise for Lewis. He is the luckiest man alive to have avoided a drug scandal. Not sure why or how USTFA buried his positive test results, but there is zero doubt that he was the king of HGH. And his smug arrogance just makes it worse. I cringe at the mere mention of his hypocritical name. I dream of the day he is outed by someone in the old Santa Monica loop. FloJo paid her price, yet Lewis walks around a smug, arrogant man.

FloJo is still the Gold Medal winner, and WR holder.
She died, but it hasn't been determined as a result of her drug taking (or not drug taking)
And there has been no HGH accusation against Lewis. He did fail an asthma drug though. A stimulant. Not HGH.
I'm not sure they even had a test for it back then
