She still can't kick.

When will she move up to the 10k? I know she trains more like a long distance runner, than a middle distance runner.
She tried to win and finished fourth.
She stick to trying not to win and finish second and third.
Last time I checked, 8:30 was a pretty good time

Except in almost every championship 1500 she has ever been in (shoe problem in Rio prevented).
Jenny versus Africa, she gave a very respectable performance.

They used to beat her by 15 seconds, now by 1.5 seconds. Progress.
She has 4 outdoor medals in one of the dirtiest events in track and field
She should be a legend around here because she has won gold, silver, silver, and bronze while competing against doped up fields and Semenya; she is not afraid to lead and has run 3:57/8:29/9:12/14:56; and here she is running 8:30 in May when her pr of 8:29 was set at the end of a season in September. She may well get all those American records this year. I think that even 8:25 and 14:38 are in play after this.
Can't run for a record AND try to win the race against a world class field. Those goals usually conflict with each other. In Simpson's case the record went out the window in the second K. To her credit, she tried to get the record back in play by taking the lead with two laps to go. Simpson usually never leads until the last lap. But taking the lead early probably cost her a higher place, maybe even the win. Simpson's best chance at the record would be (like Drake) a paced race with no competition. Problem is, there's nobody who can pace her for 6 1/2 laps at 8:25 pace. Five laps would probably be the max for a pacer which would mean Simpson would have to run the last third of the race by herself. Very tough.
Probably worth faster than 9:10 in her case.
Conversions are not one size fits all
......we all know what that means........

You can't expect her to finish well while she's too busy laughing at Hellen Obiri.
Sandi Morris was missing for the same reason

Obiri had a shocker! - where are Almaz and Genzebe? Both would have beaten that field by half a straight.
9:09?
Still not going with the right timing and approach to getting the record right now.
What's worse is allowing the man Caster to break the real woman Zola's 1500 NR from '84.
Simpson should have another opportunity at a fast 3k this summer with some of the big names providing much better pacing to 3000m. Taking the lead with two laps to go and having a slow 2nd k for the field cost her a shot at winning and the record. Terrific start to her season, however.
Simpson's on the start list for Pre in the 1500m with Seyaum and Muir.
There is a women's 3k in Rome in 27 days. There is also a 1500m in Stockholm after. Oslo just has the 800 and steeple.
