The "OP" knows what's up.
Here's a pic of Manangoi last year when he was supposedly 16: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/N7Jl2-zA7BI/maxresdefault.jpg
Here's the interview with the "16 year old" last year:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7Jl2-zA7BI
He's a 23 year old teenager, just like Amos and Aden at the 2012 Olympic Games. You people really are brainwashed by the one-eyed bolshevik that rules your living rooms.
Manangoi is a good young runner. As soon as the folks in charge see him peaking out, they'll save the day with syringes and all kinds of help when it comes to avoiding drug tests. Never mind the help they'll get from officials who have vested political interests in keeping the charade alive.
Just peruse the videos of the world "youth" and "junior" champs in the 800/1500 the past 10 - 12 years on Youtube. Laugh out loud hilarity in some of them with the E. African juniors between 25 - 33 years old. The best is the balding 16 year old Eritrean here (who trips during the race) WHO FORGOT TO TAKE OFF HIS WEDDING RING before the finals of the 800m at the world youth champs (supposedly only athletes between 15 and 17 yrs of age): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhDxzvG2RrA
Disgraceful. But funny. And the SJW types will defend this to the end. No one with sense cares about Manangoi because he's just another fast twenty-something.
17 yr Jakob Ingebrigtsen closes in 55, runs 3:39 & LRC goes nuts. 17 yr George Manangoi closes in 55, runs 3:35 and silence

Well, Kenya has a history of both age cheating and drug cheating, so it's hard to get excited for the "17 year old" Kenyan.
Here is your answer. If he is legit 17 years old it is amazing, -

Oh come on! 335 is not that bad of a time for a 10 year old. Kid has at least some ability. -
So, again, we've been following Ingebrigtsen and his whole family for years, while we've heard little of George Manangoi except maybe last year. The elder Managoi is a much better runner than any of the Ingebrigtsens but the latter have their own tv series, and legal documentation is available of Ingebrigtsen, while we have no reason to trust claimed ages for Kenyans, because they have been involved in many age scandals, especially at World Youth and World Junior comps, and while El Keniano never acknowledges any of them, many articles have been posted on how limited and inaccurate are the birth certificates in Kenya, e.g.:
Age cheating remains an issue as of 2017 and is rampant enough for AK to vow to crack down on it:
https://www.nation.co.ke/sports/athletics/Age-cheating-World-U18-Championships-trials-Athletics-Kenya/1100-3951232-1rd6e8z/index.html
Kenya was thrown out of the under 20 WC qualifying for 2017 for age cheating:
https://af.reuters.com/article/kenyaNews/idAFL3N17N3AR
Two schools in Kenya were thrown out of their basketball championship for fielding over-age players:
"“Kaya Tiwi fielded a player born in 1996, thus making him 22 years and ineligible to participate in the school games. This is an under-19 championships."
https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/sports/article/2001275843/kaya-tiwi-cornered-for-age-cheating
From 1999-2003, birth registration rates in Kenya were only about 60%. That covers current ages of 15 to 19, Manangoi's supposed cohort.

I would say no. I rank Henrik higher than the older Manangoi. While Manangoi is a 1500 specialist, his 3.28 is not much better than 3.31. However, Henrik doesn't specialize in the 1500. He also does the 3000 & 5000, and as you can see with his recent 13:16 a couple of days ago, he is a world class 5000 meter runner as well. Manangoi is not there. -

Age aside and lets assume he's really 17, we still don't know what they do to teens there. -

Today in Doha 17 year old George Manangoi of the great Manangoi running family (2 world class runners) closed in roughly 55.5 in a much faster 3:35.53 to race to get second. (If someone knows the FAT split let us know) and it's barely gotten any discussion. Unfair? Racist? Or totally fair because of the age cheating in the past in Kenya?

Okay,
I haven't read a single response here.
Even before I read a single response, I know for sure that someone will posit that George Maitamei Manangoi is NOT 17 years of age.
I truly hope I am wrong.
NOw, let me read the posts. -

Someday I will give Jakob a glowing remark just like Fancy Bears.

He's not 17.
End. Of. Discussion. -
thing is that he also doesn't look like a twenty something. This looks like a mid thirties guy

OK fake Kenyan, you know a lot of people will posit that Manangoi is not 17. That's because he isn't. Click on the photo of him in the headdress for a closeup or even just watch the video. You don't look that old anywhere at age 16 no matter how "hard" your life has been. Manangoi is a talented runner. But he isn't a teen. The OP was of course just trying to get this whole argument going for amusement anyway. He knows damn well very few Kenyan teens at junior and youth meets are actually teens.
Funny side note is that Kiprop really was a super teen when he first emerged on the world stage, he was like a Ryun or Cram etc. But when he hit his limits he went the drug route unfortunately. Something that is apparently de rigueur in E. Africa, Cuba, The Dominican Republic, and other select nations who are let get away with doping for the most part. -
Wejo, I rely mostly on your site for my running news. You guys splatter Jakob’s quotes and articles all over the front page on a regular basis. But Manangoi is featured much less prominently on your homepage. Jakob’s personality is also hard to ignore. Early on, Manangoi comes off as humble, soft-spoken, and polite. It’s an Allen Iverson vs. Tim Duncan sort of thing thus far.

??? Elijah Manangoi's 3:28.80 (he had another year in which he ran 3:29.67) is worlds better than Henrik's 3:31, while Henrik has focused his entire career on the 1500m. His 13:16 in the 5000m the other day was terrific as a start, though right around what Centro and Torrence ran, not on the level of 3:28 certainly.
-
He is 20 or older
So how can we think it's equal !!! -

The Eritrean is hilarious for sure, but I was surprised how Kitum actually looked 17 to me. Also, an undoped Amos? -
I don't pay attention to any age group records/performances from those regions as most likely they aren't actually the listed age.
-
What made me "go nuts" wasn't the time or closing in 55, but rather the field that Ingebrigsten easily beat.
