I’d they are the top of mountains why are some flat? If they float, how the heck...?

They float.
This is why you don't sleep during class.
Don't feel bad. Public schooling hurts. Also, your confusion has been shared by politicians:

Well, that guy was probably educated in the red state of Georgia so you get what you pay for.
As for your public school crack, I will never forget trying to explain to a lady who homeschooled her kids (in North Carolina btw) how when we look at the stars, we are actually looking into the past, as the light we see has been traveling for as many years as the stars are distant in light years. She could not begin to comprehend what I was saying.
But I'm sure her kids kicked *ss in a spelling bee.

Those stars are holes in the floor of heaven. It's so, cause a Nun taught me that in 3rd grade.
Also the earth is flat and if you fall off you go to hell.
They float, just like the rubber ducks in your bath tub.
Volcanos erupt to form the islands, then they erode until floods overtake them.
I believe the answer is in this thread:

. . . is almost right. They actually do float but they are not naturally buoyant. To stay afloat they have to ride on very large rafts. It is believed that these specially crafted rafts were built by the Amazons using extra-terrestrial technology and entirely comprised of (you guessed it) rubber duckies.
if they floated, they would move and islands don't move, so they don't float. They are the tops of underwater mountains.
Why are they flat? Well they tend to be pretty hilly so they're generally not that flat. But where they are flat or less hilly than they otherwise would be, I would think natural erosion is the cause (running water, winds, storms, etc.).
The lack of brains on this site literally scares me. Am I the only one with half a brain here? The things people ask boggle the mind. Bekele is probably laughing at this

Not quite - the majority of islands are surrounded by shallow water, which means they are not underwater mountains, but rather the high points of the continental shelf. If sea level were to drop (as has occurred in the past) then more landmass would emerge, larger than the island beforehand.
Some islands, however, are underwater mountains of volcanic origin - consider the Hawaii seamount chain.
An important distinction to make is when is an island no longer an island? Australia is an island, a large one at that, formed of amalgamated continental crust (ancient cratons and younger terranes from collisions).
Let's not jump into any conclusions so quickly. I don't think all of the islands have been explored have they? Some could be mountains rising out of the sea, some could be sand banks, but there could be some that float, we don't know.

Hahahaha
Love your posts
Of course they float, dummy! How do you think they stay above water?
They do float but they need to be inflated from time to time. The rich are the only ones that can afford this inflation devices, thus, they are the only one that can buy private islands.
Neither son. It's turtles all the way down.
