Can a winning bid be put together in as little as four weeks? Understand that USATF does not put up the money to make the meet happen, that’s entirely up to the organizers.
I have no idea, but I suspect the answer is no. Whoever wins the bid knew this was coming down the pike well before it was announced — and more than likely Mt SAC got the chop not because of the stadium issues but so that the Trials could be switched to that host.
They’ll announce Hayward as the host at the Pre Classic.
Some are wondering if Max orchestrated the whole charade for Nike. The Lanana suspension might be a ruse, i.e. a phony alibi. This may develop into a Hollywood movie.
Agreed. They just hold it at that track on the Nike campus.
But what they should really do is have it at Echo Summit again. Now that would be cool.

From a media and sport promotion perspective, Penn would be off the charts... Philly would fill that stadium... but with the throws outside and weird track... I guess it isn’t an option.

It's right behind the Costco!

We need Penn to rescue T&F from the doldrums it's been in for since the 1970s in the legacy media world
We need Penn to re-invent T&F in today's dominant social media world.
I want to see the revival of the championships rotation involving Penn, Texas, Mt Sac, Sacramento, Eugene, Drake, and others.
Penn has to work towards upgrading Benjamin Franklin Field the World's Most Fabled track and field Stadium.
We need Penn.
We need Penn badly.

I am pretty open minded to Nike conspiracy theories, but I don't have any reason to think this is the case. The Vin thing is not a ruse.
TrackTown was totally in the dark that USATF was planning to reopen bidding.
If this is being driven by someone wanting the meet somewhere else, that somewhere else is not Eugene.
Becca not that the Board has shown its judgement to be very good but they reportedly backed this decision unanimously. What do you think of that? No way they all could get it wrong could they?
Even if it was a necessary decision the way it was conveyed to Mt. Sac is totally unprofessional. This is supposed to be your #1 partner and it's handled like this? Who would want to work with USATF in the future?

The current Board tends to put too much weight in the words of Steve Miller and Max Siegel and not do any research for themselves.
I'm sure they were told the stadium was in danger of not being finished.
The question is whether or not this is incompetence, or if this is really motivated by a plot to move the meet somewhere else.
Which LOCs had a heads up about this? Not TrackTown.
Agree that the delivery to Mt SAC was horrible.

^ this times 10000. Even *if* a bidder has fully completed/existing facilities, this is a Yuuuuge "buyer beware" placed on every future bidder, for any event. If I was on the board of a local association and there was even a sliver of doubt as to the ease of dealing with usatf, I'd be 100% against bidding for anything to do w/ a usatf championship of any kind. Talk about poisoning the well, good job Max (and company)!!! (face-palm!)

Oh I can assure you that the ease of dealing with USATF is just as bad or worse for smaller national championships!
Penn doesn’t have a legal 8 lane Track.
Love how Nike is orchestrating this. President suspended. Mt Sac rejected. Next I suspect Hayward awarded, then President re-instated.

After re-modelling Franklin Track and Field will be IAAF conformant.
Big Effin Deal. In 2020 Mt Sac will host the largest yearly track meet in the world history once again, the Mt Sac Relays. A number of international meets are working with Mt Sac now to have their meets. Southwest Airlines already has hundreds of daily flights to Ontario International Airport which is only 5 minutes from Mt Sac. There are hundreds of hotels in the vicinity of Mt Sac. You can take Uber/Lyft to/from Mt Sac. You can get a room via AirBnB.
I have no doubt of that Becca... what can you do. I was trying to avoid the hyperbolic statement of "as if they couldn't have made things any worse for future bidders" but I think that is the more true statement :)

This is true, BUT it is actually IAAF compliant. Penn does have 9 lanes, 3 on the inside. The only events truly affected would be the 200, 400, and 400h. It’d be awesome if a stat nerd could weigh in with info if anyone in these events has ever made an Olympic team from Lane 1 or Lane 8. van Niekerk is not an American so he doesn’t count. Point I’m trying to make is that having the Olympic trials at Penn could be huge for the sport, and 4 races being forced to use the inner lanes might just be a sacrifice you have to make... and is unlikely to affect who makes the team anyway, so screw it. Comcast who owns NBC is headquartered in Philly... maybe they’ll swing their dongs and make some magic happen. A big Olympic trials would lead to bigger ratings in the Olympics.
Dead ON Arrival. My coach says Max will give the OT to Eugene in June then re-instate Vin from phony/pretend suspension by the next USATF Natl Convention.

20 minutes
Vs. 120+ minuets for the closest international airport to Oregon's proposed venue.
