"You guys are obsessed with Trump. Did you use to date him? Because you pretend like you hate him, but I think you love him. I think what no one in this room wants to admit is that Trump has helped all of you. He couldn't sell steaks or vodka or water or college or ties or Eric, but he has helped you. He's helped you sell your papers and your books and your TV. You helped create this monster, and now you're profiting off of him.... "
This joke (or more accurately, critique) was slightly funny. I too have wondered if Democrats subconsciously love Trump. The Dems have become so obsessed with victim-hood, that they don't have an identity without the abuser to victimize them. They are basically like a battered woman who is addicted to her abuser.
(See how my paragraph ended with the punch line...that's how jokes normally work)
Here is a joke from the WHCD that is completely unfunny. "Mike Pence is what happens when Anderson Cooper isn't gay."
The audience laughed at that one, and I honestly don't know why. Can someone who is fluent in TDS language enlighten me?
Is it a joke about how they both have white hair? Is it funny because Pence and the word "gay" were in the same sentence? Honestly, can someone explain why the journalist as this dinner laughed at that line?

Prove it.
Most of her jokes (and she wrote most of them) fell flat. They either weren't funny or she stumbled through the presentation. But this one was one of the best.
"Thanks to Trump, pink yarn sales are through the roof. After Trump got elected, women started knitting those pu$$y hats. When I first saw them I was like, “That’s a pu$$y?” I guess mine just has a lot more yarn on it. Yeah. You should have done more research before you got me to do this."

Just look at the Delts. Ms. Wolf does not have delts like that. She is not as "orange-y" either.
The whole WHCD is such a joke. The organizers always want to have a real edgy popular comedian to come on and roast the current administration so the event can get good ratings. But then the average age in the room is probably 58. And most everyone in the room is either a busybody insider or big Washington media personality. The last time they went to a comedy show was probably during the first term of the Reagan administration. So, Michelle Wolf throws out some lines that are very typical of what you would see on Jim Jefferies, Samantha Bee or John Oliver and everyone in the room is aghast because they are so old and so out of touch with pop culture that they think Wolf has totally crossed the line.
And just to make it all come full circle, all the conservative anti-campus PC people get all indignant about Wolf not realizing that she IS a comedian and is just trying to get laughs whereas the Anne Coulter's and Milos of the world are really trying to sway public opinion with their vicious personal attacks.
Roy,
I agree with you. However, the WHCD did give rise to one of the funniest jokes in the past few years:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huv0altni7Q
Say/tweet/angrily-comment-on-running-forums whatever you want about the man, but Obama could nail a joke.
American Hero.
Yeah, actually reading her jokes has me thinking this is a clear over-reaction. It's offensive enough to conservatives that they are going to run with it and not quite delivered well enough or PC such that some liberals will even be up in arms about it. That's bad for Wolf. But if you look at the actual text of it she really went after everyone and I think that's why it's so easy to pick on her. Otherwise, she's not far off the mark with much of it. Look at the smoky eye joke. Her point in the end is that Sanders is mostly a genuine liar, but nobody is criticizing Wolf for calling the WH press secretary a liar. They're just commenting on how she made fun of her eye, which is actually the part of the joke not meant to stick.
Great jokes, wrong venue/audience.

people laughed at the pence joke because everyone knows pence is gay
haven't you notice the large amount of repressed gay republicans in the past few decades?
It is fun to see butthurt conservative snowflakes whining about being butthurt snowflakes.

Oh, its the old stereotype about every conservative being a repressed homosexual. All the media people at the dinner were quick to understand that joke because they are used to thinking in anti-conservative stereotypes.
But Fox News and Limbaugh are the only ones with an agenda, right?
Do you think Wolf and the News media are NOT trying to sway public opinion?
Seems like a lot to run at one time for someone who only runs every other day. Most people I know who run every other day do 3-6 miles, not up to 15. Pretty cool I guess.
“Michelle Wolf’s Twitter showed the comedienne had over 20,000 tweets in June 2017, but now only has 376,” according to the Daily Mail report, “The controversial comedian deleted thousands of tweets in which she poked fun at the Trump administration and made vulgar comments about celebrities.”
She didn’t only mock conservatives. Wolf also deleted glib comments comparing Serena Williams to a man and about the benefits of racism.

If Serena Williams and Madonna had an arm wrestling match, no one would win, and they'd both walk away with raging boners,' she wrote in one tweet.
'I don't understand why people wear sports jerseys. I love Hillary Clinton but I'd never want to dress like her.'
