1) Shouldn't Galen be practicing his bottle grabs after his drop in Boston before his DNF?
2) Alberto is watching his workout and doesn't know what pace he's running?
3) I guess it might be feasible to have this conversation as Galen runs away at 5:30 pace.
4) He ran a 24 miler to complete failure 9 days before a marathon?
5) Complete failure comes after 23 miles at well below race pace followed by one mile closer to what they averaged for the first half at London?
1) It was pouring harsh rain at Boston. Galen never had trouble in any of his other marathon races.
2) He probably gave him a range and said to go by what he's feeling. Why does it matter?
3) It is completely possible
4) No way. He ran 22 miles at a pace that is barely faster than his easy day pace, did one slower penultimate mile, then ran a 4:28. Did you not see him run the last 10k of Chicago in the 4:30s? 4:28 is like his half marathon pace or a couple seconds faster. No way that was to any sort of failure. He probably just wanted to sit down after running 24 miles. Sue him.
5) This was not to complete failure.
It's not like he's saying Galen ran 40 miles at sub 5:00 pace. What the hell is there to be skeptical about? You're obviously not any sort of an elite runner or coach. They know what they're doing. He won Chicago then got an Olympic medal. But, as the average LetsRunner would think, "I could do a better job than this world class coach based on this ONE workout I saw that I don't even understand!"
