And in 2030 they will stop building Trucks because we have run out of oil.
Obesity will go away eventually.
Good for Ford. Mid-range value cars are all indistinct crap these days. Ford POS, Hundai POS, Chevy POS, take your pick.
I for one have a large penis and do not have to drive a truck all the time, but when I do, it is a Ford.
They just can't compete with Toyota, Honda or Nissan. Those automakers on the car industry. No one is buying an american sedan or hatchback. It is not happening.
American's only buy american trucks and SUVs.
Profit margins.
Much, much, much higher on the bigger vehicles (ie trucks and SUVs).
Reading comprehension is not your strong suit. Ford is not stopping the sale of all cars in USA by 2020.

No one is buying any sedans in the US. Crossovers, SUVs, and trucks have outpaced sedan sales in terms of growth for a few years now. On a somewhat frightening note, there's nothing to suggest that Americans can even afford these crossovers, SUVs, and trucks but for some reason have no problem signing onto an 84 month term loan.

This is true, which is why I stated that Americans only buy american trucks and suvs. However, the sedans and sports cars that are selling are foreign.
benz, beamers, lexus, toyota, honda, nissan, infinity.....
So, yes, SUVs have taken over, but american manufactures have never been able to compete against its foreign competitors in the car market.
Tesla builds cars in America, has a margin roughly 10% higher (25% vs 15%) than the big three, and has years long wait lists for some models.
In 20 years this will seem so short sighted.
The future is in efficient vehicles, while vehicles don’t have to be cars to be efficient, it really helps.
Cars sell if you make good ones that offer something beyond the competition.

The United States, Canada, and Russia have enough unconventional oil reserves that we could burn oil until 2150 without any stoppage. It’s the conventional oil that may have peaked.

This American truck owner wouldn't buy an American-made truck. I drive a Honda Ridgeline, which I guess most would argue is more of an SUV with a truck bed, but it is still a better quality vehicle than any comparable Ford or Chevy.
But I'll make Ford and Chevy a deal. As soon as they come out with a mid-size, crew cab truck with (and this is the important selling point!) an in-bed trunk like the Ridgeline has, then I'll buy 'murican.

The American companies gave up on the car market when the original SUV boom started taking off (early to mid 90s). Once they realized the profit margins were 3x to 4x on the SUVs and trucks than they are on cars, they focused mostly all of their efforts into those...from design and development to marketing. When was the last time you saw Ford market their cars? GM? The only thing they do market is "low lease rates" or "massive discounts" on these vehicles.

Judging by the title of "Ford to not Stop Selling All Cars...." , the OP is either a moran or a masterful troll

Not ALL cars.

Wow nevermind I'm the moran. Carry on.
In the early 2000's, I worked for Enterprise Rent-A-Car right out of college. I remember hearing that 5% of GM's total sales (ie worldwide) came from Enterprise buying their cars to use in their rental fleet.
This move really doesn't surprise me at all. I've said for a number of years that the only reason the American car companies even make and sell cars is to meet the fleet wide government standards for MPG.
Gas should cost $10 per gallon to encourage car sales to reduce green house gases.
That's because you don't own anything close to a real truck. Don't get me wrong, the Ridgeline (the last model, not current) are kind of cool but to compare them to a truck, or even a real SUV, is a joke of a comparison.
Ford has consistently designed and manufactured the worst sedans on the market. Ford's sedans are ugly, terrible to drive, fall apart after 5 years and are full of bugs and un-resolvable recalls (Fusion transmission, for examples). On top of that, their manufacturing process for sedans is ancient and inefficient compared to import manufacturers. So, of course Ford loses money on sedans and is dropping them from their line.

Yes, obesity is the reason. Nothing else. Oh wait, somehow global warming needs to be the cause.
