This may be a bit of a generalization but from my experience most women’s teams tend to run workouts two wide so that the person on the outside has to run further/faster. Whereas the majority of men’s teams will run single file. Running single file just seems to make more sense. One person leads and everyone can run right against the rail so you’re all going the exact same pace. Only one person has to run into the wind and switching off makes it so everyone gets a turn. Going around the women during a workout is annoying to swing far into lane 2 because the outside girl is typically right on the line. And wouldn’t it get harder and harder for the runner on the outside the faster the paces get?
Are there any benefits to running two wide? Discus.
