So, London has changed the Good for Age (GFA) times for 2019, and capped the number of GFA entries. The former for gender parity. The latter I’m unsure...appeal to more hobbyjoggers!?
Discus.

It seems the GFA number cap (3000 men, 3000 women) is also gender related. As clearly, more men would qualify with a GFA time.
Gender equality that will actually be a disservice to male runners.

How is a 20 year old man running 2:55, the equivalent of a 20 woman running 3:44! FFS
I always thought the 30 minute difference between the genders at Boston was too much. I'd say between 20 and 25 is pretty accurate.

Seconded. If men under 35 are 3:05; women under 35 should be 3:25.
The worst part (from another forum) is that people that had a GFA, in some cases will now be outside of that. And the worse part, is that they have until August to get a new GFA. The UK marathon seasons are standard: spring and autumn. So, realistically there is no time to get it.
Isn't it usually around 12% ish difference in M/F times that is considered parity?
1. Women probably spend more at Boston. They want them there.
2. Who wants a sausagefest at athletes village? I'll run 10 minutes faster for a little more eye candy.
How do international athletes get in? Lets say I'm a 31 year old American women that just ran 2:51. Could I get in on time or do I have to do the lottery?

Virgin have confirmed that performance targets do not show parity, this change is an attempt to have a 50/50 field!
This year about 23,500 men and 16,500 women finished. I wonder how many men vs women applied to run?
If the applications are (say) 300,000 men and 100,000 women, is it right that they intend to aim for 20,000 each competing?
Given that GFA entries were capped at 3000men, 3000women, does anyone know what times turned out to be ACTUALLY necessary to get a GFA place for London 2019? Maybe someone here had or knows of someone who had their application turned down even though they made the qualifying time? Or had their application accepted with a time only just inside the qualifying time?

Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
