Genetically-gifted????
He is not predisposed genetically for the marathon AT ALL!!
It's like an old jallopy tractor winning a Formula One race and saying it won because it was so streamlined.

He is local to our area, seen him at a few races, not the tallest, few of my running mates know him, said he is a good fella, trains like mad. He broke some father and son Joint mara time in same race WR not long ago.
Interestingly, the only other top-level guy (this guy is above 90% AG, definitely top-level) I can think of who is near this size and shape is Andy Vernon, interestingly also of the UK.

Green seems more lean, especially in the OP photo, but that might be a matter of lighting, skin tone, etc..

Cool story bro.
I have run and trained for decades, and aspire to do something of comparable noteworthiness as this guy. When I do, and I will, I fully expect to be the subject of accusations as well, as these types of things are not normal. In this day and age, everybody is suspect if they are anything but run-of-the-mill (and we have seen that many mediocre runners will cheat for middling achievements).
I am put off by this "everyman" schtick of his. He is anything but an everyman and he knows it damned well. False modesty is just another passive-aggressive ploy, at which the Brits excel. If you won it against all apparent logic and reason, own it.

Fair enough. The guy's not a pro athlete so he doesn't deserve this scrutiny. I'd delete my post if I could and keep my opinion to myself.
That's a bunch of bs. You don't get a green pass because you're not elite. If he tested positive, a race would ban him from racing. Do they have different rules based on age groupers? No. If anything age groupers deserve MORE scrutiny because routine tests aren't part of their racing conditions!
Whether it is right or wrong is not really the point. The drugs testers and the testing system have precious little resources as it is and I don't want to see them wasting their time testing someone running 2 h 30 + for a marathon because the money being stolen for such a performance will be next to nothing. I want to see the testers going after the elites first who are stealing millions of dollars from the sport _that's where the real problem lies.

Who, like Paul Radcliffe?
Steroids all the way..
Telltale sign is the guy is bald - almost all the guys that take steroids end up bald

The guy ran 2:31 at age 50, so running 5 mins slower on 4.5 months of hard training is not at all suspicious. Actually it matches a normal age decline for a guy his age.
2:31 for a 50 yr old is age graded to world-class level! (~90.5%). Age graded world-class times for middle-aged marathoners isn't that common in the U.S. Maybe it's more common in the UK - I wonder how many marathoners 50+ in the UK are running AG world-class times?

You nailed it. The only 50+ year old guys who are bald are on steroids. Good work.
Runner 10026 is Mark Stacey in the 40-44 age group and he ran 4:25.:24.

Maybe that's a picture from another race and not the London Marathon...

Or more to the point, if you're actually bald without being on steroids, you're doing something wrong.

He has to stand on his tip toes to appear taller in photos. He obviously has issues.

Hmm...you write like a Brit. Americans spell "realize" with a "z", not an "s".
You are NOT an American.

50-something British men do not think this way.
16-something American fantasist kids on letsrun do, it seems.

Didn't Eddy Hellebuyck stand on his toes like that?
Threads like this are why letsrun is a cesspool.
Mods, do your damn jobs. What possible reason can there be to allow this garbage thread to remain?
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
