Drugs or not that's pretty impressive. 2:36 and jacked at 50+ is unreal.

Anabolic steroids.
Is the scrawny runner jealous?
It is definitely possible to look like that at age 50.
I am 44 and would certainly give him a run for the money in a bodybuilding contest. He's bigger but not by too much. I don't run 2:36; more closer to 3:00-3:10 these days.
One thing young people overlook when it comes to physical size and definition in older guys is how many YEARS we have been training. I started lifting around 13 so I have been at it for 30+ years. As long as you keep dedicated you will lose very little muscle or definition. I won't really be able to gain any mass at my age but I can certainly maintain what I have. Running 50+ miles per week with about 8 hours per week in the weight room = muscle mass and low body fat.
Instead of criticizing an obviously badass dedicated athlete you should look at him as inspiration.
Im 10 years older, and have been training harder and longer, and I call serious B.S.. I've seen a world-class specimen or two, and no way that is sustainable without synthetics.
Without verifiable proof (photos + results), you are whistling out yourass as far as I'm concerned.

On this link he's got amazing training photos on his FB page. He has veins growing out of veins on his legs - unbelievable! I'm a little older than this guy and I've got veiny "old-age legs" that I cover up in public, but seeing his legs I don't feel so self-conscious now. Lol.
All that time over all those years for such a silly and vain purpose.
See, heelstriking works.
Jumping to (potentially-incorrect) conclusions is not fair.
1) Is the athlete British?
2) Seeker of social media attention?
3) Sponsorship / charity involved?
4) Previous running form (in earlier years)?
5) Is there a precedent for elite (clean) old marathon runners with extraneous body-builder muscles?
Given recent surges in limelight-seeking goofballs, it would be ignorant in the extreme to disregard the glaringly obvious.
Graham is a well known athlete in the UK, as is his older brother Andrew who has a 2:12 to his name. Graham's son Ben is a 1:47 runner, with a 230 off little mileage so fair to assume the genes are strong!
So you're 44 and can't break 3:00, therefore this guy almost 10 years older running in the 2:30s is a logical extension. Got it.
Yeah, but can this guy run a 4:15 mile and squat 800 pounds?
I think not.
Came to say the exact same thing. The whole point of this thread is that someone who is 50+ and built like that WOULD have a hard time running less than a 3:XX marathon, so this is beyond comprehension. You can either look like that and run 3+, or look LESS like that and run 2:30s! I'm not saying it's impossible, we're simply saying we've NEVER seen that before so it's shocking. Keep up, man!
If bulking up works how did Kipchoge win!. Farah even more skinny.
Where did you really get this photo? That is not from the London marathon ( it’s not a London Marathon bib). How old is he in this photo?
He is still ripped but he’s not as big in his undated photo.
Anyone that has done some moderately serious cycling has legs that look like that when they run. The upper body is another story of course. Don't think this is a slam dunk PED use.

But Graham doesn't have marathon-runner genetics.. he looks like a typical in-your-face juicer.
Do you really think this man is doing steroids? Come on...
You don’t actually look like you think you look. You are likely fat.

He's on his feet busting his ass six hours a day. What are you on?
Famous quote by one of the most high profile dopers in the history of sport. Classic.
Yeah, Graham is really well known/respected on the scene over here in England.
From people who know him, seems like a top bloke.
Ran 3:47/8:15 (1500/3000) in his early 20s, then stopped running for a fairly long time but obviously kept fit. Came back to it in his late 40s and is churning out some terrific results.
His training tends to involve super high easy mileage as a base before Christmas then moving onto workouts and sessions about 3 months out from London I believe. Also hear that he cuts out all sugar, alcohol etc from about November. The guy is incredibly dedicated.
And as mentioned, has extremely strong family genetics. I don't think he's as big as some are making out. I've seen him run in the flesh and some photos maybe exaggerate his size.
