4:51 19th mile for Kipchoge. That's the slowest of the race. WR could be slipping away.
Jon I'm a bit disappointed. I figured I'd be the sentimental one and think they could still get the WR. We all know if they go out like this they blow up.
They were off of WR at 30k.
At 30k even WR pace is 1:27:04. They were 1:27:24.
At 35k they were 35 seconds off of WR.
Then they went
Mile 22: 4:55
Mile 23: 5:00. Still Kitata right on Kipchoge. Kipchoge now getting a few extra strides on Kitata -- now getting a gap on him in the Blackfriars underpass.
Mile 24: 4:44
WR I think is 4:41?
So this will be over 2:04.
Make no mistake, this must be very tough now for Kipchoge given the opening pace. But unlike Keitany or any other runner, you cannot imagine him bonking, he just never has. Incredible

Sorry, but Kitata looks better than Kipchoge right now.
2 minutes later. Kipchoge pulls away. Never doubt your boy!
Kipchoge appears to have dropped Kitata.

Great Mo ..... just fantastic
Something about the Ethiopian air has made his balls grown. Gutsy racing that many hoped he'd have done on the track.. but I guess that's how it goes when you're no longer the one to beat
I don't even think Kipchoge is breathing hard.
All Hail Kipchoge
Kichoge is the GOAT. No question. Not even close.

Go to hell, you piece of garbage.
Got to say...Mo earning serious respect here. He might grabbed second.
BBC wondering if Farah can catch Kitata
Wejo it was always going to be too warm you should know what running in 68 degree weather and 50+ % humidity is like. I mean I grew up in RVA and running was always tough. Look what happened to Keitany. No way was a world record going to happen today!
Yes man is really funny...... let me tell you Mo is cleaner than many around ... thats for sure. And is doing an amazing marathon
really great!
Kitana almost turned 180* looking back just now.
Kitata starting to pay for keeping up with Kipchoge's pace.

This all shows how under-rated Kimetto's WR is.
People talked all week like taking it down was a given, like multiple people could break it, etc.
LOLOL.
I'm impressed they didn't blow up worse, but wow that early pace was dumb
