Timely? Uhhhhh, no.

I commented on the Instagram photo saying that he should have at least mentioned Desi's name given the historic nature of her run, and immediately had my comment deleted and was blocked :(
Did this ^ really happen?!
I wish he mentioned the "winners" by name. Little things like that make a difference.
Y'all got OWN3D !!!!
For Chr#$* sake, it was friggin cold and he stopped, and probably saved his next race instead of continuing on a death march to the finish.
No statement would have been better, but this one is fine. The only people who care are the idiots here placing far too much value in their personal opinions. Go back to work and shut up.

Nike gets really paltry mileage out of Rupp. I think his biggest issue is his mental weakness.
He's not alone. Kawauchi and Linden weren't just the fastest Monday, they were the toughest. My best days were in the Steve Jones and Rob DeCastella, Ingrid K. & Rosa Mota era, when runners did what they are supposed to do: run. None of this 'I have a stress reaction' crap. They had stress FRACTURES, and I know many runners who even ran on those. Some people would call runners from my era 'stupid', but they clearly had what most runners today, particularly elites, don't have: guts.
It's nice that these Africans can run a 2:04 marathon, but those performances, while fast, are the product of fast courses, pacers, and coordinated efforts of a host of professional staff for each elite who make sure that everything is perfect. Monday wasn't perfect and it became pitifully obvious just how weak today's 'elite' runners really are.
he definitely didn't write that but who cares. makes him cooler than the cutesy friendster crowd. he's fast as hell and clearly loves what he is doing. he's a runner not a marketing intern.
I am a quitter. And I am sorry. I am 2:09 all day long and now I’ve accepted it and I can move on.
Guy can't win on these message boards.
I guess you were all able to find statements from all the Elites that dropped out on Monday
As I've said numerous times on these boards, nothing Rupp does will please the haters.
If we wins a race, the haters will claim the field wasn't deep and/or the time was "slow"
If he doesn't win, well, he can't run fast and/or against competition
He finishes Boston on a horrific day weather-wise..feeling like crap/hypothermic and death slogs it to the finish.. places 10th and he gets killed on the boards
He drops out of Boston(of which all elites do) and he's not mentally tough and gets killed on the boards
Hell, I firmly believe that if Rupp won London this year, against this field AND set the WR, the haters would STILL have something bad to say.
Just stop.
Well said! Granted, he is not necessarily a "media personality" but that is not his job.
I bet Bekele is at home now, literally laughing at this thread.

You think he dropped out only because if his mental weakness? Have you read or understand what the body goes through in those type of conditions? You sound like such a moron
Would it kill him to say congratulations to "Yuki and Desi" instead of the "winners"?

Idiot. It sounded phony and it came 72 hours too late. What the hell is wrong with Galen? If he were a teenager I could understand, but seriously, Galen cannot deal with it when things do not go his way. He is exceedingly immature. Sone if this is no doubt due to the fact that he, like Lance, cheated to succeed and they both have such poor character.
Idiotic Statement. If you ever become somebody let's see you do better.
Sorry to my fans that I couldn’t break 19 minutes at the Run to Fight Serious Illness 5K and Color Run last weekend. The drizzle and temps in the 60’s were pretty brutal to deal with! Truth be told, I was feeling a little tired because I binge watched “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” on Friday night after a pretty taxing half day of work at Fleet Feet. People don’t get how hard it is to be the second assistant keyholder of a chain retail shop. I was supposed to leave at 7:00 after closing the store but some fat woman from a charity marathon training group and a kid needing replacement spikes came in at 6:55 and just blew my whole pre-race prep cycle.
I want to thank the race director for comping my entry but, I think the t-shirt could’ve been nicer and there should be a separate bagel and banana feed for us local elites. Kudos to the brothers in blue that successfully monitored the intersections. Bless you, thin blue line! A big thanks to the crew at Taco Bell that made me a Gordita Crunch Wrap even though it was not on the breakfast menu. Oh, and congratulations to the winners including that C-level Kenyan grad student and likely doper that wins all of local races plus the age-groupers that I make fun of at the store all day long.

Galen just has no class. None. He waits over 72 hours to release a phony statement. What a loser.
Look in the mirror, dude.
He was obviously very disappointed in the day and how it affected him, as were many others. However, he could do a lot better by facing up to it at the time. I respect Molly and Shalane for their post race interviews.
If Salazar was told a leprosy drug would help Rupp recover faster, Rupp would have leprosy, too.
