F Deadspin.......head to the comment section to see Liberals yapping about a white woman in Boston.
No mention of it in my local newspaper. Like the event never even happened. It's not Baseball, so it gets no mention.
BBC front page news story about Boston is leading with "The unlikely Boston marathon runner up" about Shelley...
Here in Minneapolis we have two professional sports teams in the playoffs (Wild and Wolves) and we are having a historically snowy April, so there was no boston coverage at all in the paper or elsewhere.
Coincidentally on MPR news this morning they mentioned that on "this day in history" was the first year in 1972 that Boston officially accepted women runners, yet no mention of yesterday's historic Boston win for women.
Well since Lisa Rainsberger lives in Colorado Springs, the local media has given the story a good deal of coverage.
Remember when it comes to local news, people want to read a local connection. That is what gets clicks.

Detroit 760 am reported that Linden won but then had to ruin the report by bringing up the bombing of 5 years ago. I guess they don't think the race itself is important enough.
The local coverage in Boston also still wallows in the bombing from five years ago...constantly selling the narrative of evil Muslims.
Random anecdote, but I overheard several non-runners in the gym this morning talking about Yuki's win and how inspiring and amazing it was, especially since he is an unsponsored amateur runner with a full-time job.
A healthcare policy newsletter I subscribe to opened today with "Good morning ... Rock on, Sarah Sellers — the full-time nurse anesthetist whose second-ever marathon run was a second-place finish in the Boston Marathon." A link was included to the Boston Globe article on Sellers.
Cool to see a shout out to a runner in an unexpected place.

Let's hope it at least shows up on SportsCenter.
Does it show up on your local news? What about your local paper. Let us know.
Lawrence, KS. Absolutely no press. No articles in the paper. No Instagram posts by the local running shops. No page updates for the primary running website for the town. I'm actually a bit surprised. The running shops are usually more on top of things like this.
Front page, above the fold, of the New York Times: Desi crossing the line.

Ever notice how Tommy Meagher, the BAAs finish line race judge always gets his mug in the fotos, as here he grabs Kawasaki, he did the same with Desi and every year prior with the winners.
What a ham!
Lots of coverage here in Arizona. Linden went to Arizona State University and Sarah Sellers is from Tucson.

Loved seeing that at newsstand this a.m. The tabloid style Boston Herald has a half the front page foto of her.
No mention of the marathon at all here. It's all hockey playoffs.
When she Desi home to L.A. this week she should be on Ellen, Kimmel, Corden, and The Steve Harvey Show.
This is all I've seen in the local news where I live; however, I live in Utah so I would expect the press to focus on Sarah Sellers:

The Berkshire Eagle in Western Mass. gave Linden and the American flag the entire top of the sports section: LINDEN SLOGS THROUGH RAIN TO WIN, but incorrectly begins sub-head with "Michigan Native." I gather she was born in Arizona. The other head was "Abigail Wright top local finisher" and gave her time as 3:09. There was a smaller pic of Kawachi. The hockey and basketball playoffs were bumped to the bottom of the page.
No one has pointed out that Yuki Kawauchi has proved himself the world's greatest marathoner ever, finally capping a career that included, as I recall, two 2:09s in two weeks. Kawauchi>Kipchoge.
The reality is that the weather could have been perfect and Desi’s considered more ‘legitimate’, but without Shalane’s white skin and blonde hair, she’s getting less attention than Meb.
