Des waiting back for Shalane was awesome. What a classy athlete.
Classy? I just think that's stupid from a strategic point but smart from a marketing point.
They aren't training partners.
If it was Weldon, I'd do it. Should the hold field stop and hold hands? I would have cuagh tup a lot slower.
Have they hit halfway yet? WHy arne't they talking about pace?
I'm with you Pete. After seeing that, I was rooting for Desi even harder!

Abdi in 3rd?! I don't think this will turn out well for him. Act your age, old man!
Just checked, Abdi came back in over 1:22 for the 2nd half after a 1:06.
You folks realise if the weather in London doesn’t go berserk and the elites perform to expectations it will spell the end of Boston as a prestige brand, right?

I've lived in Boston the past 20 years, and this is by far the worst conditions I've ever seen for the race. I don't envy these poor souls.
Thank you. The winning times speak for themselves.

Why? We have track already for standard, all-out, speed-above-all efforts.
People like the roads because they are variable. This is what we come to watch. How do people deal with complete insanity, like today?

The fellow just doesnt get it.
Anyway, today was a perfect example of how top E Africans would do in grueling mountain races like the Hardrock. Not good. They would all collapse.

Yes, that's what I said. Thank you for agreeing.
Other than your not making a comparison to Desi with to an average LRC poster.

Chicago is already RIP as a Major. Boston is now RIP as a Major. That leaves NYC but the runs there are too slow. It seems time for advertisers to focus on one US marathon as a Major - bump up the prize money - and attract a lot of top talent, like Dubai.

They already run in the mountains. As long as the conditions are good, meaning no wind. I don't think the rain or cold was the problem. It was the wind that was too brutal for them to deal with .

Which is why I was laughing at people commenting on her thunder thighs, so much talk about her thighs early in the race
Yuki has thunder thighs

So is she, or is she not, eligible for the prize money. Did she start in the elite corral?
She was F42; those with the F start are from the elite wave. A 2:45 first marathon is pretty good (Trials good or close).
Simple reading gives the answer? wrote:

Actually it was her second marathon.

He has already done that on the first 26.2 of WS100.
So was Yuki really the second across the line? I was watching NBC, which missed most of the end of the men's race, including the chase and pass.
Anyone have the intermingled finish order in "cross the line" order?

Watching Yamauchi run is the most beautifully painful thing I've ever seen. This guy is awesome. Rupp is done thank God.
He runs like a man with a knife stuck in each shoulder, and he's trying to shake them free.
I thought he looked like a Benihana chef doing a show. What's his full-time job, anyhow?

Pretty easy to predict the africans aren't going to do great in this weather. Americans are going to do great. Huge chance we have at least one american winner, I'm also predicting two American women in the top 4, 3 in the top 6.
I'd say the chance of an American sweep is even greater, on the level of 50%.
Men's winner is 2:14:17 and women's is 2:29:54.
Looks like I was only off on the women's winning time.
