Which performance do you think is more impressive: Yuki Kawauchi today or Yuta Shitara in Tokyo 2 months ago?
Kawauchi.
I don't want to hear one more damned word about Rupp on these boards. YUKI THE PEOPLES CHAMP DEFEATING THE 4%

Is Kawauchi going to be at the office tomorrow?
His boss told him he better be if wants to keep his job.
rupp?
Fair point.

Why can so many elites not handle the weather? Shameful.
You're kidding, right? No experience. 30-35 mph winds, freezing rain. Now people should have a better understanding as to why kipsang dropped out at 30km in berlin.
Berlin was nowhere near as bad. Much milder temperature. You could run it in shorts and singlet alone.

Yes, I'd like to see the stats on that. Makes perfect sense, of course. I know what I would do if I was elite, but was not feeling perfect.......likely at 15 miles.
yeah, the fact that so many of them dropped near the end doesn't make sense. Why go that far into the race? I guess they still thought they could get a good finish and then really hit the wall with the weather.

I'd love to see Kawauchi win this after all the ridicule from the commentary team
If he could come back after that 90+ second deficit, that would have to rank up there as one of the best marathon performances I'd think?
Yep. Basically he got lapped and came back to win

Very low body fat and weight in freezing cold with strong headwinds, it makes total sense.. It's also not shameful, you're just an idiot.
Good point both winners are powerfully built........not running skeletons
Looks like Geoffrey was the only Kenyan man to finish. Make no mistake, he put on a very impressive show. In different conditions the race would've been his. But extremely happy for Kawauchi as well.
Waiting for the interviews.
HECK YA. This was, by far and away, the best Boston Marathon showing since the glory days of 2011 in which Desi also featured. The magic of the blue-collar samurai, Kawauchi and America's hardworking, focused Desi makes for a truly legendary victory!

And then lapped the next runner twice.

I think this was and is the craziest marathon of all time.
She's from Georgia, trains with Zap Fitness in NC. It's 34, blowing wind and snow today at Zap's HQ in Blowing Rock, so not surprising that her and Pennel (4th in men's) outlast others in these conditions.

I hate whoever that guy is. Leave the woman alone until she is done with her husband. What a narcissist.
I'm just basically happy that all of the East Africans got destroyed!!! Yipeee!
So WTF happened to Kirui?
Was there really a 90-second gap, or did the splits get screwed up, maybe because of the weather?
