15K 50:09... I hate to say but he's getting obliterated pretty much
He should stop. Get on the T and go to the airport.
I think he cannot recover and train for another one this Spring due to other commitments (OTQ is his own, separate challenge).
He is sponsored to run and lives for ultras and mountain races so he will need to recover from Boston and then start training blocks specific for those other races. If this is the case then he might as well finish this one as best he can since he started it.
There will be other OTQ attempts either in the fall or next year
He's stopped at the 30K mark I think
something happened for sure since he was projected to pass the 30k mark after 1:41:38 and he hasn't yet it's 1:48:xx
Wow
Sage talked a lot of crap on this forum about how he was an above average marathoner... but he certainly did not show that today
He should have saved face and walked from this race before he left Boulder and found a different race. Now he's in an ultra sufferfest and won't reach his goal time for the second time this year. Stubborn....
come on, guys, 2:19 would have been a top 5 finish today. impossible.
Sage hasn’t “talked any crap” on here or anywhere else... probably ever!!
If anything, he is overly humble!
How would you have faired in today’s race???

Depends on what my goals were when I signed up for Boston. If my goal was to just race for position and finish it then, yes I would expect a crappy finishing time before I started given the conditions of the race. If my goal was to race for a goal time, then I would have not raced today and found a different race within 2 to 3 weeks and put on my best show that I could. Afterall, it is what I've been training for, for the last 3+ months, why piss it away on a shoddy weather day?

Yes, exactly, which is why he shouldn't have bothered. His only goal was to qualify and it was painfully obvious that it was impossible today. I guess at best he could turn it into a long slow miserable training run for him, but, why? I like Sage, I just think it made no sense for him to run today. And everyone saying it was somehow heroic or bad ass to go though with it, why? Doing something pointless which achieves no goal and can only potentially injure him or get him sick, when he runs for a living? I guess he'll have a good story of needless suffering for a very slow time. I hope he stays healthy at least.
because he is a sponsored pro with other commitments and you are not?
He told me he's a top 50 marathoner!!!!!!!

If "talk crap" means say negative things about other people, I've never seen him do that here or anywhere.
I'm not sure why people follow a sub elite runner, but he does seem to keep it polite and positive.
He ran a 2:22 or something

I like Sage and always wish the guy the best. But honestly I think the only commitment he made today was failure once he toed the line today. And part of keeping your job is doing things sensibly, not just getting it done to say you got it done, right?
