We did a podcast with Andrews before the race on his rags (18+ minute 5k runner in high school) to riches career.
He wrote us and said, "As you may have seen, we just missed the overall WR as I finished in 2'46'06 (though that is under the 50K Track World/American records and I got an en-route OTQ (2'18'42). We were on pace through about 37-38km but I didn't have the strength to solo out the last 12K. I had fantastic pacing from Rajpaul Pannu and Chris Frias from the HOKA Aggies and all the support of my friends and family and HOKA staff out there, but just couldn't close it down. It did get quite warm by the end, but no excuses. I left it all on the track - wasn't going to happen yesterday for me. "

A headband can hold a wireless earpiece in place. Maybe he likes listening to tunes while he runs? -
Awesome performance .......5:20 per mile pace for 31 miles.

Tyler's "50K Track World and American Record" is equivalent to a 2:18:16 marathon, 1:05:47 half-marathon, 29:39 10K and
14:09 for 5K.
Wow. -
Fantastic, congratulations. 2:18 split, solo from 35k on... very impressive.
-
except that thousands of people have achieved the times you quote and literally a few have ever run as fast as Tyler over 50km so I can't see the equivalent.
-
not many people run 50ks.....

We need to see his birth certificate. -

Why does he wear that headband over his ears? Another of his oddities. Weird guy.
He is weird and also not known as a friendly guy to those in the DC area. I was disappointed to see Letsrun giving him so much hype (though can't blame them since they don't know better). -

Letsrun is obsessed with any talented American runner who was born in the country and is 100% white. Most here believe a great white hero will come one day to prove white people can run fast. They need this because they need to self insert as this hero so their own mediocre career feels like less of a failure. -
He can do a no pressure time trial with pacers on a track or run at a set speed on a treadmill, but he flops in major competition. He overtrains, is too thin, and cooks his goose before races that count. Hoka is sponsoring the wrong person. There’s plenty of sub 2:15 guys who could take down these records if given the same support.
