This is running not Sunday Church. That being said Church also welcomes people from all religions. The essence of true Christianity is that God is all-loving. Ryan and Sara are kind to all people from all religions.

Being an atheist and having met them, I was surprised at how open-minded and kind they were in listening to my personal beliefs. Never met nicer people.

Being a great athlete rarely translates into being a great coach, but there are exceptions. It would be fantastica if Ryan did turn out to be a great coach. He and his wife seem like very nice people and having another professional running team with a great coach would only be good for the sport. I hope it works out for him and his team. Good luck!

In his blog post linked in the OP, it says moving "back" to arizona. So even if you somehow missed the fact that they've been in Redding for the past few years, that could have been a clue, since you can't move back to somewhere you already are.

I assumed that God would be the assistant coach, there to advise Ryan but not directly coach. Probably doesn't want anymore heat for anything that goes wrong. Can't blame Him though.

My main question though is, won't this get in the way of the weightlifting he does in his garage? And promoting Second Skin?

Well, my best running days are behind me, and I never was at the level of a US Champs qualifier or D1 All-American. But I had a few college teammates who were, and if one of them asked my advice of Hall as a coach, I’d say something like:

“Dude, I don’t know. He had that whole ‘God as coach’ thing, and based on a number of anecdotes it sounds like he was basically winging it. Then there’s the fact that he was pretty darn inconsistent as an athlete and often didn’t run his best at the biggest races. Plus he recently posted that training schedule he made for his middle school-age daughter, and it was totally disproportionate for a kid that age. Maybe the guy has learned from his mistakes, but that’s not a chance I’d want to take on a brand new, highly inexperienced coach”.

Yeah great things like how to do nothing until you're a marathoner number one number two like how to talk big and not back it up number three how to run of the phone of the pack when it doesn't matter for the first three fourths of a race and when the Real Racing begins make sure you stop and smell the pansies and let the race happen in front of you make sure you save those all the time for your marketing such as I'm going to win a marathon major I'm going to run a marathon major and make sure your never ever in the real race at the end when it matters and most importantly he'll teach you how to be a conceited stuck-up self-righteous jerk with only self-interest

When you don't care about others and only care about yourself it takes everything that you say that you didn't four and turns it upside down and makes you a hypocrite greatest of which for Ryan Hall is his big mouth running about his wonderful Christian faith and no willingness to back it up deeply saddens me

But doesn't that sound like recipe for success I think I'll pass I expected to fail miserably but unfortunately I think it'll take a while because too many people don't see him as the fraud he is they only see him by a number behind his name sad sad sad

His fit bit running plan had me go from 21 5k to 1848 so suck it long and hard

Not sure if serious. Any plan that involves running consistently could do that.

Strange for a guy who went through coaches like Second Skin on bad day. He could not adjust to any coaches philosophy. Why would he be a good coach? Is he certified because on his site he has very specific qualifications to train with him without showing any coaching credentials himself.

He asks for the athletes to be financially stable when he is probably not ,dependent on the fees he will charge to be with the group. He is no longer a higher salaried elite competitor.
