One thing is for sure...Alberto is horrible at deflecting suspicion. His every breath exudes culpability.
The "USADA" report is now two years old and the only think the USADA seems to have on Salazar is that he gave his runners an extra dose of vitamins. In other words, without new evidence (or someone in NOP failing a test) the investigation is likely going nowhere.
Anybody could be guilty of anything, but people like Burfoot, Rodgers, and Beardsley are all Salazar (and by extension Rupp, etc.) supporters/believers and that goes a long way for me. Rodgers and Beardsley are probably the two most well liked guys in the American running culture.
As for Bill Rodgers's comments on the Catholic/religious thing, most people are shocked when someone who appears to be a devout Catholic does something immoral (or at least more shocked than when it is a so-called "Bible-thumper" or non-religious person). But as I said, anybody can be guilty of anything.
Rupp certified all the way !!!

Incorrect.

Or people view it as sarcasm if someone says "he wouldn't lie because he is catholic."
Can't wait to see these doped up AlSal test tube athletes compete against the East Africans, I don't care that they likely cheat I just root for them regardless, go Galen!
I agree - on the one hand BR and Burfoot and all the other Greater Boston folks knew him when he was a driven teenage runner who had it drilled into his head at home to be the best or nothing - according to his autobio his upbringing was somewhat brutal by today’s standards. On the same hand, like you said, BR and other greats have been around - they know what or who’s suspicious. (Remember BRs great quizzical look at Rosie during the post-race interview? ...and his comments? Priceless.) These guys have been around, I take stock in their comments until proven otherwise. Like BR said, this isn’t Lance. On the other hand, doping is phenomenally successful - never testing positive means absolutely nothing today. Nike, with whom I grew up, no doubt has unscrupulous managers - as does adidas (read accounts of their early days). I can’t believe Nike endorsed LA until the bitter end. However, Rupp and Hasay haven’t won 7 Boston’s - given their ages and athletic background, their rise in the pro running world can hardly be called meteoric.

What about the dozens of runner's against Salazar? Shalane, Meb, Kara, and Steve Magness just to name a few.
I like Bill Rodgers, but his claim Salazar wouldn't do it because he is a devout Catholic is pretty naive.
Saladbar is literally infallible. He is as good at covering up the drugs as the Pope is at protecting priests.

I kind of feel like Galen should have an extra bottle for every table they pass just for drugs, seems only fair considering how much better Ethiopia and Kenya are at distance running than the US on the men's side of things

As for suspicious trajectories, was there anything suspicious about Lance's trajectory either? I grew up in Texas. He was a STUD athlete. Just because you are a STUD teen doesn't mean you can't be convicted of doping - just ask Mary Slaney - who was coached by Salazar by the way.
But if you were going to argue the suspicious line it could be said that Hasay was a mediocre pro until she lit it on fire at the marathon (but to me she could be just like a Japanese woman - made for the marathon, her shorter pbs are close to Nogucih's aren't they?) and Rupp went from having no wheels to being a 3:50 miler.
Hasay was a legitimate stud, she is, in my mind, the most talented American High schooler in history, this was before kids like Mary Cain were training as professionals. I got to watch her at the '08 trials as a high school kid myself, what I saw was a 16, 17? year old mixing it up with professional runners, it was the coolest thing I've seen in person as a fan of the sport.
As for Rupp, I used to think he didn't have speed growing up, but I looked at his old hs profile, and we might be wrong? He ran a 54.1 in what seems to be his only 400 time, a 4:01 mile, and the equivalent of an 8:38 2 mile. Is it really that surprising that as a pro he dropped a 3:50? It's remarkable, sure, but I'm not sure it hinges as close to suspicious as we seem to say.

Rupp has not produced any times that would suggest he is doping - maybe the 26:44 10K? Otherwise it's about what you would expect from a talent like him - there's no doubt he puts in an insane amount of work and takes care of every little detail.

Shalane only spoke up after Hasay ran faster than her. Pathetic!

Shalane was asked previously at USA's. She would not say a darn thing to support her best friend (wink wink) Kara Goucher. Only when it was crystal clear that Hasay was better than her could she speak up.
Pathetic.

Which USA's? Support?
Believe him *because* he's Catholic?!?! That's insane and stupid. Religiosity is strongly correlated WITH lying, cheating, and immoral/unethical behavior. And the more overtly religious a person is, the more moral licensing they are likely trying to build up in order to compensate for their "sins." And Catholicism, with its confessional redemption option always open for business, is perfectly built to promote precisely this sort of tradeoff.
Alberto, who wears this religious bullsh!t on his sleeve, is Dirty AF.
But who cares! So is everyone else.
The story in globe is just rehash of old news, nothing breaking, zero update, nothing that we have not read ten times over. The Globe reporter should be considered inept as not to be able to create something of new news not re-hash.
We are still waiting for some word as to what if anything that the investigation has turned up that could provide a prosecutable shred of evidence. My guess it never will.
Not a single person in the NOP group has tested positive or been prosecuted for any type of drug use.
Epsteins story was a well spun sensational article that stirred the pot.
Jordan maximized her ability as a runner in the marathon. As an American pro female marathoner she may be regarded as one of the best ever with her current marathons when its all said and done.
Rupp is one of the best americans distance runners ever now. Every race only reinforces this.
Nike has never implicated in any shape or form for anything to do with drugs in any sport.
Unfortunately our sport lives in the past and enjoy assumptions as truths.
One thing is for sure. Rupp will be one of the cleanest elites on that starting line. He's again racing against the who's who of doping.
Won't be an exciting race I fear. A 20 mph wind in the face the whole way? That's gonna produce some slow-ass times.
