Maybe. It was done on a measured track, along with video and several observers. I think he gets an official OT.
I'm super inspired. Thinking about going for the 11000m track world record. That's not a typo. If the record exists already, I would probably go for the 9000m world record instead. Really whichever record is softer. HOKA, are you listening? Hook a brother up?
It all depends on what training he did in school.
This site and it's readers get overexcited by school athletes hence the succession of burnouts. Fire enough through gmth system and you are bound to get success but individually the American system if over competing doubling for points and excessive mileage for young kids who are never going to make it anyway reminds me if the old Societ gymnastics system

Bekele likely has the en-route 9k WR but the 11k is a whole new event. Neato! Go get it bruh! We’re all cheering for you!

yeah but there have been 15,000m and 20,000m races on the track by elites. So you probably need to be a sub-28 10k guy. But maybe you are.

You should go for the "no-one cares about you" 1.1m, 11m, 110m, and 1100m track records.
Try running a real distance, such as 10k, 20k, 30, 40k, 50k, or even 100k. Get back to us when you break any of those legit records. Yes, the marathon was originally 40k. Morans turned into the idiotic 42.2k that everyone is stuck on these days.

So you're saying the 50k track world record is a legit record???

Yes, absolutely. Otherwise there would not have been an existing record for him to break which is not the case with 11,000 or 9,000 meters. Congratulations to him.
Kipchoge could set this if he goes right into his cool down after his next marathon
Yeah props to Tyler for working his ass off and becoming a pretty damn good runner, but I can easily see why he rubs some people the wrong way. I used to follow his log a lot a few years ago, and it's clear he doesn't have much integrity when it comes to reporting his training and racing. He would do these blatantly unbelievable workouts, run downhill races and note them as prs without any mention of the courses being downhill, and one time he even noted a race time in his log that was 40 seconds faster than what he actually ran (in a 5k no less). I'll never understand why a genuinely accomplished runner would feel the need to exaggerate his accomplishments like this.
Thank you. For those paying attention, the plot line is not hard to follow. No one is questioning whether or not Andrews is a good runner or a hard worker. People are questioning his integrity. Here are just a few reasons why:
- He openly advertises his half marathon PR as 1:03 with no asterisk. Check his Instagram bio. He ran 1:03 on a treadmill.
- He runs downhill courses, writes very long write ups about them, but fails to mention any downhills (in fact, mentions uphill more often), then again counts them as his PR. Mohawk Hudson .
- On New Years Day 2017, he ran a small, local 5k in 15:40. Logged and posted that he ran 15:04.
- A lot of his workouts are not at all believable. He follows them up with race times minutes slower than his alleged workouts.
- He follows hundreds of people on [name a social media platform], gets follows back, then unfollows them after a few weeks.
- Stunts like this.
Really?
I have absolutely no idea who Tyler Andrews is.
I have never heard of Tyler Andrews until this thread about him.
Why do you know so many details about an unknown runner (with a 2:16:59 marathon PR on a downhill course)?
A lot of us post our training on running2win, and he's pretty prominent on there.

Oh wow I had no idea because they aren’t contested at the Olympics.
Yes, really. Running2win.com. You have all the info you need now to go and seek the truth. Good luck, partner!
A few days before the New Years Day 15:04/15:40 Tyler logged a 15 mile training run at 2:13 marathon pace. A few weeks later he then 1:07 high at the Houston Half Marathon. You don't have to be a genius to see that doesn't add up. I also remember him logging a 10 mile fartlek workout where the total time was within seconds of his PR, and him describing it in his log as a "medium difficulty" workout. Right... Of course there was no GPS data uploaded on these log entries.
Sounds like the lesser male version of Brenda Martinez.
How about the 10k not so long ago that was allegedly taken off course yet gps says otherwise

Hi OkayTUNA!
Seriously. TUNA would find a way to hate on whoever cures cancer. Somehow he finds pride in being a giant d*ck. I mean, he's obsessed with Tyler Andrews. He mentiones TA in almost every one of his running log posts. Then comes to bash whoever else he knows (typically those who are faster than him).
I'm glad Tyler is taking a stab at the record. He's going for it. TUNA is just farting around with junk mileage, hate, and a bunch of 2:21-25 marathon performances.
TUNA got 10th today in Boston. 10th place in a major marathon is a much more impressive performance than setting some obscure world record (which the 50K track record is, the all surfaces 50K is slightly more legit). Right now, DV > TA.
