I'm not a big fan of cold weather Boston Marathons.
The cold dampens the enthusiasm of the spectators along the course.
Sitting in the cold before the start is not a cup of tea.
The finish area can be a shivering drag.
bottom line : I wish I could defer and try it again in 2019.
It is snowing at the moment in Hopkinton. The 2018 B.A.A. Boston Marathon is going to be a cold one

You mad Bro. Forecast for next Monday has a high of 52f. Don’t you like running fast times.

Are you running or spectating? -
This is one of the many reasons I don't run the marathon.
1. You have to register months in advance when you don't know your future injury/fitness level.
2. They are a hassle to get to the start.
3. You are at the mercy of the weather. I can suffer through a cold or a hot 5k, but a cold marathon is miserable and a hot marathon can cause permanent damage to organs. -
Awwwwww poor OP. Everyday homeless people have to deal with where they are going to sleep that night and trying to scrounge up enough to form a blanket to be warm and not freeze to death.
Meanwhile, you're complaining about waiting around at the start of a race you paid $250+ dollars for...wearing probably $200 worth of clothing...Then you get to run FOR FUN. Not to survive or to find food. -
Suck it up, twinkie. You'll live.

Heat injuries are more likely in shorter races. -
The fact that we're having flurries today is irrelevant to next Monday. Current forecast is for high in the low 50's. If that holds, that's perfect running weather.

We've got a spirited discussion over here.

I'll take cold over 80F any day. The problem is the NNE wind forecast. Wind predictions are notoriously inaccurate. Last two years they had a tailwind 3 days out. Last year, there was a huge tailwind on Sunday, they missed by one day. -
The weather this time of year in New England can change very quickly. No worries. Hoping for 45 deg with a nice little tailwind.

Am I missing something here? No marathon for 9 days, could be 70 degrees by then...

Dude! It's not this coming Monday. It's on 4/16. -
The weather right now in Boston does not have a very high correlation with the weather 10 days from now. The day 10 forecast I just looked out looks basically ideal (high 51, westerly wind, cloudy with some chance of rain). Find some clothes you don't want anymore and layer up before the start, throw them away in the start coral.

Better than a hot one.

Weather forecasting is a horribly inaccurate science-- even 24 hours out.
April 7, 1982.
25 high 16 low snow.
April 19, 1982
70 high 41 low sunny. -
Snow? Get out there and clear the snow from the finish line...make sure some "happens" to take a pic and post online. Free entry coming your way.
Don't forget to work on some lame "I just cherish this marathon" drivel. -

Granted, but it is presently 32 degrees on this Sunday morning. It is dry though.
It can be too cold for comfort.
32 degrees is too cold. Not many spectators would want to stand around along the course for hours
on end in 32 degree weather. -

I see what you're saying. It's Boston, spectators will be there for the start no matter what.
Next year, qualify instead of paying your way in and jogging 5 hours, and you'll be guaranteed lots of spectators. No runner should ever pray for warm "comfortable" weather.
