Rupp will have to have an extremely good race to win at Boston. I would like him to win but realistically a top 3 finish is more likely.

4.) Rupp hung with kipchoge for 1 hr 47 min in the olympic marathon.
5.) Rupp beat Bekele.
6.) Are you frustrated that Rupp is a successful runner?
Hm. One of these three guys is the most successful distance runner in the history of the sport, and another one of them is the most successful marathon racer of the modern day. Also you mentioned Rupp...
Ummm sorry son.
The London Marathon rejectes all entries that are fund raising, or associated with a travel program that gives money to their charities...
The time cut offs are only for British athletes.
And I believe Great Britain would have been a German Provence without American intervention...
Oh that is so true.
I'd like to shout out to hardloper. Assuming you're the last u of o Ncaa steeple champ, then I knEw you personally. You pined for my wife..... It's all good though, we are divorced now so you can have her!

In a perfect world it would come down to Rupp and Kawauchi in the last straight.
I agree. With both 30 seconds behind Ritz.
I could live with that scenario.
I wonder how ritz will do
You do realize that Tola is a 2:04 marathoner, right? You do know that he is Ethiopian, and he trains high up in altitude, and does hill running, right?
YOu do know that rupp's 59:47 was in a point to point half marathon, right? His time would have been more like 60-61 minutes in a regular half marathon. The guy that came in second PR'd by like 3-4 mins I believe, when he had never run that fast in previous half marathons. No one takes point to point half marathons seriously.
I'm rolling with Tola. Rupp will be top 3.
Sal will not be able to ride in " The A-Team" van behind Rupp to give him instructions like he did in that point to point half marathon. lol
You obviously have more confidence in Tola, and put more stock into the seriously inflated (and EPO induced) times that come out of Dubai each year. There are also rumors that Tola is in horrible shape, but I admit that they're just that - rumors. We shall find out next week.
I'll stick with 1. Rupp 2. Kirui 3. Desisa

How can Tola be in horrible shape? He just ran 2:04 less than 3 months ago.

Rupp is in better shape than when he won Chicago last year. He is ready to run fast. However, who knows what the other guys in the field are going to run. On paper, they are four to five minutes ahead of Rupp, and some of those are recent times. If Tola or others close to him run to their potential and conditions are fast, Rupp could pr by three or four minutes and lose.
In this case, the odds are that he will lose but he is good enough to win this and despite the field he can win. If he doesn't win, I think he will still get 2nd or 3rd, because he is very consistent in doing so.
Remember Meb beat some much faster runners at Boston so it is possible. But, I don't think Rupp has the balls to try a tactic like Meb did.
Rupp does NOT have the balls to do it.
