Just go in there and level the place. Best thing that could happen for T&F

Its a big dump already. I say go for it, cancel NCAAs there this year and move it somewhere nice like Arkansas St.

Well that is certainly a hot take.

This is my favorite thread of all time. I'm sorry, Pre.
I'm not a feng shui person, but I've been around Hayward Field, and it's just wrong. You know how some tracks are just "right," and some make no sense, just seem weird? That's Hayward.
Sure. Take the last iconic bastion of track and field away from the USA. That makes sense. I cannot express enough how great it is to have run ncaa's and the Olympic Trials there. Example: random people would come up to me at the freaking grocery store or restaurant to tell me that they'd saw me run on such and such day, and comment on my performance. These were just normal people from Eugene that had no family or anyone they were related to in any of the meets. It's really the same experience racing in Europe. Fans with knowledge make a difference. They truly do. It's called Tracktown for a reason. Compare that to Sacramento or Des Moines...ugh....

Look he didn't say one couldn't run fast times at that place. But something is just "not all there" about it.

Ugh, you seem like the kind of guy who looks at yelp before he tries a restaurant.

Racing in Eugene is not like racing in Europe, and your description is not like the experience racing in Europe.
I guess hating Hayward is now the new hipster thing to do?
whats wrong with it

Ha! What are you even talking about? How do you know what my personal racing experiences were in Eugene and Europe? This takes the impetuous comments of the board to a new level. Please, expound on my experience, and please be specific...I'd love to hear how it was and how I must have apparently misperceived all of it!

Hayward Field is always going to have detractors who, being able to voice an opinion without revealing identity, will take advantage of the opportunity. And Hayward Field is ALWAYS going to be a uniquely golden mecca for far, far more people. For a good reason.
I don't understand why Hayward Field is the name of the stadium. Bulldoze it and replace it with Hayward Stadium.

Please, I’ve been hating it since before it became the cool thing to do.

"Field" is old school. As in Ebbets Field, Forbes Field, etc.
Keep it. It's classy.
But I doubt you understand.

The fact that something has been happening for a long time doesn't mean that it isn't stupid. Also, you format like a chimpanzee.
