18-year-old Kumari Taki faded badly so no clean sweep.

Manangoi in 3:34 followed by Cheruiyot and Wightman. Really fantastic racing by all 3. Manangoi looked very composed the whole way, and Wightman ran a tactically brilliant race staying in contact but running very efficiently before moving very well from 250 out. Gregson was disappointing tactically surging hard to cover small moves throughout the middle of the race which cost him when the race really opened up over the last 400. Gotta be able to respond in a more controlled and efficient manner.
Agree.
Such a difference between Manangoi and Cheruiyot in running style. One smooth and good looking, the other you just wonder how he can run sub 3.40. Really impressive by Wightman after the 800.
Can this commentators at least try to disguise their anti-Kenyan bias?

Hi Barakus. What’s your nationality?

Can you at least pretend to think sometimes? Its not anti-Kenyan, its pro-Great Britain.

Are you listening to the British or the Australians?

We both know that telling you that would only bring out even more of the troll in you.

The Kenyans must be delighted that Willis is injured, that was set up for him.

Come on, now. Be proud of your country.
1:48 roughly for the final 800
Makwala and Semenya have identical forms.

Brilliant run from Wightman, just a little heavy legged from the 800m, otherwise he would have taken both Cherryet and Mangogi.
I get the feeling also that the European runners still lack a little self-belief. Had Whiteman stayed a little closer to the Kenyans, he might have won just as Langford would have won the 800m. Perhaps a voice is in their back of their heads in these races, sounding exactly like RekRunner or El Keinaio, telling them that white men can't run?
It must be a bit disconcerting that the Kenyans with a population of 60 million devoted entirely to distance running can no longer claim clean sweeps or even be sure of gold at the Commonwealths. Both Mangogi and Cherryet are in their late twenties, whilst guys like Wightman are still 22 and improving.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmxEn4odrSMIf you can check out the 4x400m final, the most exiting relay race I can remember. 5 countries neck and neck.
I thought the 1500m was exciting. The top 2 were never in doubt and being training partners, controlled the race to the last. The battle for third was interesting. Manangoi says he'll go for the world record meaning he and Tim Cheruiyot were running well within themselves. I'll be watching out for these two and how they handle the likes of Kiprop in the DL.

Yeah, Managoi says this and says that just like Kiprop did. He'll likely not go under 3:29 this year.
Wightman seems to be developing nicely. He may really be a force in the world champs next year and the 2020 Olys.
I still thought O'Hare would do better than him in the CWG. He was running very well in the winter indoor circuit.

I've got more chance of being World Heavyweight champ than he has of breaking that record.
