I politely decline any offer of free cell phones. There is an overwhelming pressure to receive a free cell phone where I live.

How would you pay back a >$100,000 bill? What if you had an accident that required ongoing treatment and care for the rest of your life, how would you swing that?

At my poorest, I lived on about 3k per year. Did that for two years. This was in Philly in the late 1980s. Rent was $125/mo, shared a tenement with 3 other people. No health insurance. 5 bucks a day for food. 2 bucks a day for cigarettes and coffee. Life was simple back then

I worked about 1000 hours. I ran and did a bit of writing and art in my spare time. I stayed in four different homes. Yes, it was enjoyable, especially to share quality time with different people.
