Agreed. Yohan Blake has been in Australia for at least a couple of days now. She could have arranged to get there a day or two early and stayed in a hotel. Getting there even three or four days early makes sense to adjust to the new time zone. Something seems strange about this.

Perhaps the sponsor agrees with her.

Ridiculous and inexcusable and to top it all off she has the gall to say she's "heartbroken" and "disappointed" by her avoidable laziness. Jamaica Athletics should ban her from ever representing them again.

Why DIDN’T she try to get there sooner? If Yohan had a say in how early he would arrive, I’m sure she could have as well. Was she ignorant of how long it takes to get to Australia? Or did she have other commitments?

Yohan and the other elite athletes were partaking in promotional activities for the Games.

I dont see why she would pass on this oppurtunity as it will be her last. At age 32, you choices are thin.

Can't compare Yohan here compared to Simone. Bank accounts slightly different. Yohan shipped his Jag out here to drive around!

I went travelmath.com which says I can go from Jamaica to Australia in 21 hours and 20 minutes.

I would also refuse to go with those travel conditions.

Well being and safety is far more important than running in a track meet.

There is probably a larger financial issue here. Maybe she calculated that the financial returns for running in the CWG are not worthwhile.

In some countries, the CWG is mostly about patriotism, not financial returns. That's why some athletes skip it. And Her agent may have instigated this

Some agent push athletes to run only if they are getting a cut of the financial returns.
