That's because she was on her menstrual, which was reported, and she still came in second place.
Chick is a beast.
Not sure if Mary can blaze the full marathon from start to finish, even with male pacemakers. London this year will be extremely interesting.

Even after running a half marathon PR of 1:04 this year?
This women has not shown any weaknesses at all, and has actually gotten faster.
Either she dies, or she will make the field bleed. ....I'm going with the latter.
In my eyes, she is even greater than Kipchoge. WRs in the half, marathon, 10 mile, 20k, 25k. tons of half marathon and marathon victories

Yeh, that’s what he always does, run fast and break world records.

I don't necessarily agree with everything you write, but it is mostly reasonable. However:

I don't think Dibaba has the pure grit needed for that men's paced WR.
Breaking that record might not be a question of grit or anything. It's close to unbreakable. It will take new, powerful PEDs.
For the men, it's still Kipchoge. He's the most intelligent, talented, and consistent marathoner in history. And he's still only 33.
*Cough, cough*
Guy Adola is very talented, but this will only be his second marathon and does not know the course.
I don't think that matters a lot. But if he runs slowly now that he must be on the radar, I fear it will get me thinking. If he performs, great.
Bekele (...) Just remember though that as he ages he will have far fewer good days of running.
Sure, but he's younger than Kipchoge.
Look at these pics of Kipchoge. His age is authentic. The pic with the tooth missing is from his 2003 win age 18- he does look like kid there. So stop the crap with his age.
"The marathon is not the best event for Bedan Karoki or Mo Farah."
I fully agree here - but would not rule out the possibility of Farah doing something pretty amazing. He has a lot to lose being heavily defeated in a high profile race in the UK. If he did not think he could run VERY well why would he bother running? He doesn't need the money, in any case if he did he could make a lot of it running at the half marathon distance (and shorter) on the roads which is whee his true abilities lie.
Given reasonable conditions (weather absolutely awful in the UK at present!) I expect 2:05 from Farah which will put him very close to the front of the field.

I wonder why you're so upset.
So you think these pictures support your claim? And he won an Olympic title aged 18? Well, that's, erm, marvellous.
And about Kenenisa's age, if I remember well, Renato Canova wrote on these boards that his problem was the opposite: he was too young to get sent to international competitions in the beginning. (And, at least, I believe Canova believes what he writes.) For some reason, I can't find that thread any more.
*Opposite: the opposite of most runners' problem, that is: pretend they are younger than they really are, to make a name for themselves winning races in younger age categories.
Abel Kirui wants to make the podium. You folks won't understand what he's saying as he's speaking two languages at the same time but he talks about putting in the work and also goes on about running clean. He's 35, by the way.
And besides English, what was he speaking?
I'm betting on Swahili. That would make sense.

Did you see the master Kipchoge doing any of that nonsense?
I never quite understood "tune up" races. Is there a way to compete at your best a few weeks before a marathon? I doubt that. So why would you get paid to come to a race you're not taking seriously? Do race organisers get a discount?
"Tune up" race is code for being out of shape and running slow.

No WR for Mo. Who would he draft off of for 42km, while clipping their heels, to set a WR?
