So where are the results for the Carlsbad 5000?? There was some no on the front page that the race was happening today but nothing after that.

To answer the question, no, for the most part, this is not a running site.
It's absurd you can't find results for such a high profile race. I've checked the Carlsbad website, twitter, Flotrack, Letsrun and there is nothing.

Also, nothing in the San Diego newspapers (Union Tribune and North County Time).
Hey guys, have you heard of Google???

I was there.
Part of the reason that times and results and all were not available is because they had live timing at different parts of the course... At 1.3 mi and 2.5mi (not sure why)
Also, the course tangents seemed longer, which may account for the even slower elite times. It felt slightly longer. But that may also he because the air felt heavier...not sure.
But, with one Ethiopian in either field and no Kenyans and apparently smaller prize money, it was a different feel with the elites.
Either way, I enjoyed watching the elites run and running my own slow time.
Yeah, no results yet. WTF. We found our individual times by looking up our bib numbers. We had fun at the race, though. And the beer was really good.
Carlsbad is no longer a major road race, thus no press or notoriety.
The change of race ownership to the Ironman organization was really noticeable to those of us who have done that race for a lot of years. They seem to be trying to turn it into a "people's fun run". They did not even post results at the race (half a ream of paper too expensive?). The elite fields were a bunch of barely 2nd tier pros. This race does not fit the profile of all the other races they own, which are Ironman tri's or marathon/half marathon events. I really hope they will sell this race to a group that cares about putting on a 5K for serious competitive runners as well as the fun run crowd.
"Heavy air" made for slow times
Now I've seen it all.

Rather, I'd suggest that you've now "heard it all." I'd also venture to guess that you've not spent much time on the West Coast. There truly is a feeling at times that the air is "heavy", cumbersome, and oppressive.

I was there all day and it was nearly perfect racing conditions, almost no wind, clear skies, temperature in the high 50s.
I, too, am a masters runner. When we raced at 6:58 am, the climate was fine. Great race conditions. But I was talking about the elite times. I did 3 races in the "all day 20k" and it was more humid by race 3 at 9:10. I skipped race 4. Eh, I didn't need it. By the time the elites ran at 10:15 and 10:45, respectively.... The air was different. Maybe it was in perfect conditions when we ran, but not when they ran.

Perhaps I wasn't paying as much attention to the weather after our race. For the elite race it was perfect weather to stand around, drink beer and watch other people race :>)

I prefer the old schedule, that way if you do the all day 20k, then you can relax with your beer watching the elites
This race is on my bucket list. But, I just read that the course crosses 2 train tracks. Has anyone had issues with trains stopping the race. I'd hate to travel from the PNW only to get stopped by a train. Thx.

it's a great race and worthy of bucket lists--generally great weather, great setting for spring vacation, great beer garden, cool little town, competitive race across the board, and great sense of history for runners.
no personal experience with train stoppages in the masters race over the last 11 years, nor back in the day when i ran the elite race in the early-mid-90s, but the train did stop the leaders of the 30-39 year old race last year (2018). one of my teammates had a fairly commanding lead, was caught by a few other runners when the train crossed with only about 40 meters to go, and had to panic-sprint for the win that should have otherwise been easy. they do try to line-up start times with train schedules (part of why you'll see some strange, un-rounded number start times), but this time it obviously either wasn't planned, or didn't go as planned. also, as far as i know, if you're a far back of the pack runner, you are not considered in their formula for start times; i have seen it stop some of the walkers in other races...
cush
Good info, Cush. Thanks.
I can't find the results this year. Meb, can you please get the results up on your website sooner next year? It looks like last year was a problem too.
