So I'm a freshman in highschool, if times matter I did 5:05 ln the 1600m and 18:55 in XC. My old coach had worked me from 25 MPW in the beginning XC to 37 the week I moved.
So recently I moved from a very running friendly state, to a state that has a lot less running. I came here excited for track, especially since I figured I would be in a bigger school, but the distance coach is crayyzzy. It is my second week here, and I have made my times and weekly milage before clear to my coach, but she still does really wacky workouts. So, first of all, she has the whole team run together, like the fastest and the slowest guy run the same distance on any given day. And the same exact workout, I mean of course the speeds are different but they do the same amount of repeats.
The typical hard day will be less than 5 miles... For every single person on the team, like we all do the exact same thing. I keep track from my watch.
The typical easy day is less than 3 miles, and the whole team runs the exact same distance, again...
She also doesn't even have us run Saturday which is completely foreign to me.
Also, she gave us a training plan for spring break, but it is the same for everybody, and it's time based. The longest run we have all week is 45 minutes.
So what should I do? Is this normal? Like my old coach gave different workouts and DISTANCES not times for every individual person, and our team was half as big as this one. I tracked the weekly milage for the first two weeks , and the highest out of the two was 17. Is this normal? Am I the crazy one?
