That is what the article is about.
That's been the problem with American Track & Field since the 1970s and even many years before that.
Didn't anybody watch the Steve Prefontaine movies? Pre lived was on food stamps after college!
Meanwhile many Europeans got paid to train and even competed into their late 30s or even 40s if they were weight men.
WE can do something about this.
It's not the 70's anymore. Pro runners do get paid, if they're good.
