at the US Olympic Trials at Stanford, CA in July 1932, a guy called Frank Crowley (NYAC) finished 2nd in the 1500m final in 3:53.3 and qualified for the Olympic team.
at the Olympic games, at Los Angeles in August of the same year, Frank Crowley (USA) ran 4:00.0 for 4th in his heat and in the final he was 8th in 3:58.1.
then in June 1934, a guy called Frank Crowley (Manhattan), a senior, won the NCAA 3000m (2 miles) in 8:44.4 from William Zepp (Eastern Michigan) and whilst it seems obvious this is the same guy, this also strikes me as a little odd.
according to my informations, Frank Crowley was born in May 1909, which would mean he was 23 at the time of the 1932 Olympics and 25 when he won the NCAA title.
is 25 a little late to be a senior in college and, more importantly, is this actually the same guy?
cheers.
