It’s difficult for me to like a runner who’s not a front runner, or at least heads the leading group some of the time. Rupp and Farah always sit behind people, the never lead. It’s like they come to a race without any planning their time. Their time is dependent on how the leaders would run. I can’t be a fan of such runners. There’s no inspiration in that.

Everyone was calling for 61s and 62s. The dude comes out, runs sub 60, wins by almost a minute, and now its all "nah, its down hill and windy n shiit."

Galen Rupp is the greatest American distance runner and multiple generations. Embrace it.

And people will still hate because Boston is downhill and point to point.

Rupp is our best marathoner in the US. I think he has a ton of room to improve in the marathon, think he will get the half AR, and continue to contend for majors and medals.

I just wish he was more fun to root for. As far as runners go he says next to nothing about his training, has been linked to the greyest of areas in our sport, and doesn't seem that personable. His times are amazing and it's fun to have an American up front, but he doesn't make it easy when he runs 59 and the boards are split about if it was a good run or not.
