I always drank a Red Bull before races 3k and under. Now that I'm running longer road races, it's a caffeine pill 20 mins before the start.

Not sure why anyone would be taken back by this. Look around the parking lot before any race. Runners are slugging their Starbucks, energy drinks (most are just very lightly carbonated), colas...

I'm the guy with the liter of coffee before a run because Red Bull just tasted odd to me and left me feeling gross.
To me, goat milk sounds disgusting, but I'd happily fill up my bottles if some goat farmer wanted to sponsor me. Could I keep it down? That's another question.
Guessing it's more of a function of her being sponsored by Red Bull. Yes, people drink it during races (Chris McCormack was a big fan of it), but I think she's more plugging the sponsor here.
If Red Bull paid me, every bottle I own would look like a Red Bull can.. but wouldn't necessarily have Red Bull in it!
I agree with this. While I am not a fast runner, I am competitive within myself. Having said this...before my last marathon, my breakfast was one of those small packages of 6 mini donuts, a 12 ounce acai flavored sugar-free redbull, and a 5-hour energy shot. Not only did I set a PR by almost 30 minutes, I was able to keep a sub 9 per mile pace for slightly over 20 miles. As a result, I swear by this drink in many ways. It works. I have also never once suffered any adverse effects, whatsoever, from red bull. It is body-friendly. YMMV. ,

I watched the end of Ironman Arizona a few years ago from a spot a couple miles from the end of the marathon... i remember being confused at this exact thing. There were definitely more than a few people guzzling red bull, even among the early finishers.. maybe it's more of a thing from the Tri world?
I'd shoot myself if I were that guy. One of the most pathetic emasculating things I ever saw.
What is the world coming to?
Regretfully clicked on video curious about the Red Bull thing. This video is about some sad guy who needs to get a life.
The last time I ran the NYC Marathon (1993), the cult running group Sri Chimnoy had some aid stations set up on the course serving Coke and Oreo cookies. Past 15 miles in the race my wheels began to fall off, and those stops were like heaven. Drink some Coke, run with my cookies.....ahhh.....
If you drank 3 redbulls before you raced would it give you wings? imagine the efficiency of wings, your legs would barely even have to work!!!

There is no such thing as bad gas.

I knew she was sponsored by RedBull but she actually drinks that stuff during her runs

Btw great quality video production!
I've never had a red bull. What's in it and what does it taste like?
Forget about Energy drinks. The real stuff to give you boost before training is a pre-workout supplement. I used to use Jack3d before fast long runs back in the day and DAMN that stuff made you feel effortless and invincible. Stuff on the market today is decent. Check bodybuilding dot com for what works the best.
Im sure it wasn't red bull in the bottles - probably water or similar.
this is pretty common among elite runners, i've seen a lot of my teammates drink a redbull or two pre-race/workout. personally i cant stomach the carbonation so i do cold brew coffee (high caffeine low acidity).

Unlike you, she is a professional athlete. And you already know her biggest success. That's who.
The relationship between her and her husband strikes me as odd.

The dude decided that being a father and supporting his wife's career is more important than focusing on his own ventures for awhile. In fact, it could be better for the both of them since Gwen is the money train. If he is taking some time to himself when he needs it, they will be fine.
