He was singled out and if there is another reason other than his race I would like to know it. Maybe the way he dressed, maybe his demeanour, I cannot imagine that would lead to him being singled out and to the harassment he was subjected to though.
I’m a blonde white female, and I get singled out for all sorts of things. I get stopped and searched at security at customs disproportionately compared to other people (heck, I’m even made to remove my shoes along with all other females, despite the shoe bomber bro g male, and the shoe bomb hidden in a male shoe), I’ve had the hard, humourless questioning by customs officials. I’m pretty certain that if I kicked off in the way Mo Farah did at that airport, I’d be detained and miss my flight. I have never seen anyone get that agitated and start filming in a security area get away with it. Everyone knows security personnel might focus on you, it’s their job, but if you wanna travel, you just keep your head down, answer their questions and comply.
I’m not denying racism, but it’s Mo Farah. He is entitled. He and his wife constantly breach social protocol and then claim racism. As a child, he was s troublemaker and he admits himself that if it hadn’t been for athletics, he would have probably ended up involved in drugs and crime line several members of his family in the UK. He was slow to learn to read and to speak English, unlike many his age who came to the west, despite an extensive free education. He now has wealth beyond his wildest dreams and an air of confidence commensurate with that. Of course not everyone recognised him, so what they see is a person who is loud and arrogant in public and maybe but behaving in that slightly downtrodden, eyes down, invite no trouble way that most of us, including white people, afoot at airports.
So in this instance, I think he actually got away with it because he was black and very self important. I don’t think I, as a white remake, would have done. However I think this latest incident (and there have been several) is due to Mo’s problem with behaving himself in public. He becomes aggressive and adopts a victim mentality when challenged. He has a problem with authority. He has clearly married someone with the same behavioural pattern. It’s something most people grow out of, as they progress through society and prosper. Mo made a fool of himself, again, in public. I do accept that might be due to to past racist incidents making him over sensitive. However, do tell me how I would get on shouting and yelling and filming airport security in an airport in Somalia please.
