I'd say the doping culture in Brittain is greater than we all thought and Muir needs to cork it lest she gets called out too. Radcliffe's record is the most questionable record in modern Era T&F.
You're right, they can't match her clean. The best is 5 seconds in arrears, the rest 10+. Now tell me something I don't know

Very similar progression until age 24, when Dibaba "jumped the shark" with her 3:50
It would be nice to know at what point she started training with Aden.

Go back to school and pay attention in the geography lessons. Is it really hard to comprehend that the Scottish are in fact - British? You fool. Fool. Fool. I'm not even going to expalin it to you. Idiot.
I'd love to give you a Glasgow kiss...

I'm talking solely about Laura Muir. I would be utterly astonished if she were doping and get frustrated by baseless suggestions that she is, purely on the grounds that she's 'pasty' and very very good
Well said, it's due to the talent pool in the US of A being so small. For the size of GREAT BRITAIN, we produce significantly more endurance athletes of mertit compared to our colony (US of A). Ergo, anyone with any talent like Laura is instantly labelled a doper. I've watched her progression and she does have talent, and she clearly works hard at it.

If you were really from Glasgow you wouldn't be calling Scots British. Since Glasgow was just about the only place in Scotland (other than Dundee) that voted to leave the Union.

A doper working hard at what he/she does would not be unexpected.

"When asked why that was the case, she looked at her coach Andy Young, who explained..."
"There is no suggestion that Dibaba has ever been involved in any anti-doping offences."
"There is no suggestion that Farah has ever been involved in any anti-doping offences."
There is no suggestion that UK athletes, coaches, or journalists have to worry about British libel law or secret gag orders.

....Neat narrative, except about .000023 % of American youth give a shite about track or running versus A LOT of Brits who care about running. Everyone in Brittain knows the name Farah. Not even 1 in a thousand US teens could point out Rupp, Centro, Murphy, Rowbury, Coburn or Simpson.
....BTW, besides Farah, who was the last British male to stand on an international podium??

Without looking it up, Rutherford?
Paula Radcliffe's marathon record of 2:15:25 is very close to Dennis Kimetto's 2:02:57 in performance. Why is it that there is over a decade of accusations about Radcliffe and nearly nothing about Kimetto. Almost all performances by men are 10-11% faster than the top women's....do the math from 100m to the marathon and likely beyond.
Radcliffe's record when she ran it was an outlier. The men caught up to it later.
Kipchoge's 2:00:25 is more of an outlier. Although for reasons we all know well, it cannot count as an official marathon. But still, Kipchoge is often referred to as the greatest marathon runner ever.
It is difficult to accept any new world record as there have been so many athletes, coaches, agents etc caught.
One red flag is when an athlete's performance makes an unusual jump as had Dibaba's. She surpassed known doper's records from China. In addition, as mentioned, Jama Aden, her coach was surveyed and caught dispensing of needles and paraphernalia.
To do surveillance on someone for a month and bring out testing equipment and test 20 of 22 athletes is expensive. You must have something to go on, to commit that sort of manpower and gear. And to know that if you make the bust, there will be investigations and court appearances to tie up many man-hours. To get approval for that investigation, the argument would have needed to be very convincing.
....and they caught him.
...but there is a lot of money at stake. Follow the money, it will lead you to everything that you don't want to see.
Sponsors/advertisers spend a lot of money as the exposure is big.
It is no different than the drug dealer from Florida who was caught selling cocaine and steroids about five years ago. Anyone remember this one? He claimed that the Washington Wizards and Washington Capitals are his customers. That probably got him off.
Interesting that someone must have quietly paid someone else to make the whole thing go away.
Alex Ovechkin, a Russian hockey player that plays for the Capitals has all the hallmarks of steroid use: wide nose, underbite, protruding forehead. He is a nice guy, so people say, "no, not Alex.".
Well, Igor Larionov of the old Soviet system played for the Vancouver Canucks. He told of Russian systematic doping. He admitted that they were all doped for years. One story in the paper - nothing further. He held a press conference about it.
It makes perfect sense now that Larionov was not lying as it has been proven that Russia has systematic doping in place. Has had for a long time, probably starting at the same time that the East Germans were feeding kids and women so much anabolic steroid that later they had to get sex changes to finish the transformation that the drugs were causing. A transformation that they didn't expect, because they did not know they were doping.
The Chinese weren't sure they were doping when they were wiping out the world records until later.
When ARD TV went into Kenya to see how available drugs were, it was a bloody joke. A plane ticket and a lie about being a sports agent uncovered some ugly truths. How many dollars is WADA funded to $40-million annually? (Guessing).
When East German and Russian women were turning into men in the 1970s in the stadiums around the world, it was obvious that they were doping. Lorraine Moller wrote in her autobiography that when the women tried to dress up in the athlete's village - to look pretty or more female - it made it worse, it was pathetic and equal to putting lipstick on a pig.
Nearly 50 years has passed and little has been done. Only since ARD TV stepped into Kenya and then exposed Russia recently, has anything at all been done.
It's a farce. The whole sport is a charade, a false facade, built on marketing dollars and powerful old people.
It is not that money is the root of all evil, but the "love" of money is the root of all evil and that is why Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympics as well as others wanted all athletes to be amateurs.
I don't think he envisioned this current distopian nightmare though.

....Good leaper.
Any runners?
I mean when comparing to that vast wasteland of US "talent" is Rutherford and Farrah what you're bringing to make your point.
You do know that The US is only 8 times the population of England, right?
Rio olys: US medal count, T&F only = 32 medals out of 141 awarded. 3 times more than second place Kenya with 13 total. Brits had 7 which is not bad for pasty soft bellies.
Good post, Chris, but you forgot the latest twist- gender doping. We saw it in action just this last weekend. Instead of turning women into (athletically)functional males with years of doping, as the Eastern Bloc did, just take (athletically)functional males and masquerade them as females. Much cheaper, quicker and more effective. They are even seen by SJWs as "heroines".

And why is Aden still under investigation? Its two years later. He was caught red handed. He and all of his athletes should have been given a ban.
Because the governing authorities have given up....
When they bust someone now it's just 'for show'.
I just watched the indoor Worlds and MOST of the athletes are doping, even the pole vaulters and long jumpers, Men and Women...
In the 60 hurdles I was surprised to see an American Hurdler who was drug free and then the announcer said he had received a kidney transplant which explained why he was no longer "juicing".

#1 and #2 runners here. Sorry, but if I'm to believe that either is clean, it's going to be the one from the entire family of medalists born and raised in the literal mecca of running rather than a Scotish girl with a soft stomach, cherub face, and massive progression.
This all screams Paula Radcliffe to me, and frankly if Genzebe was white and from a family of nobodies we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

Excellent post, but this bit is patently false:
"Alex Ovechkin, a Russian hockey player that plays for the Capitals has all the hallmarks of steroid use: wide nose, underbite, protruding forehead. "
That has nothing to do with steroid use, and is in no sense or fashion a side affect of steroids. Growth hormone, possible; but 100% not steroids.

Dibaba improved 16 seconds in 5 years, but Muir improved 22.6 seconds in 4 years.
A kinder-gentler description would be "error" if it is. Patently false sounds like a lie.
