Agree with everthing.. and as someone who’s body ultimately failed them I have some more tips.
Definitely have throw away gloves, pay attention to when they need to be tossed. I thought my hands were fine til suddenly I couldn’t move them and it’s because they were frozen in my soaking wet gloves.
Eat your gels. I had two along the course and completely regret not having more. First run in these conditions and didn’t realize what I was putting my body thru.
Pace yourself. I was so pleased with what I accomplished today in terms of that. I kept a steady pace that would’ve requalified me had I finished, and that’s because I didn’t come out too hard.
Ultimately, I got hypothermia at mile 20, once I reached the top of heartbreak. A half mile before that I was so pumped about how much I thought I had left in the tank, and how well I had paced out this race so that it didn’t end up kicking my ass. But weather got the best of me..
Delirious and hypothermic I had to turn myself in but I’ll be back for Boston soon enough. As a local I’ll have to go finish out those six miles in my own time this weekend, just because... lol
