I played football and basketball in middle and high school. I tried track for one season and ran the 100. I don't remember my exact time, but I'm sure it was under 12.
I didn't do any sports in college, but I took up distance running to stay in shape. I was running about an hour a day of slow, steady distance 5-6 days a week. I never did any speedwork since I had no interest in road racing.
I'm now in my early 30s and ran a 100 for the hell of it last week. My time was 15 seconds, which was unbelievably slow compared to what I ran in my teens. My question is, at my age, is there any way of getting that sub 12 speed back, or is it gone forever? If it's even possible, how long will it take if I manage to avoid major injuries?
