I don't know whether Blankenship had an actual race strategy or not. He couldn't win an 800 against any of those guys who finished in the medals. Perhaps he was hoping for a mass DQ of the pack behind him.
So you think he could out run them from the front? No. YOu are damned if you do, damned if you don't. I like how he ran to the line and made sure no one picked him off like Engels. Finish as high as you can. Don't just pack it in if you aren't medalling.
I've updated the contest with the 80, 1500 and 3k.
I'm into the top 15!!! Boom. I nailed it with the 1500 guy. I should have kept to my instinct at the beginnign of the year that Kejelcha would never lose with the NOP

I agree, but the tainted beef excuse isn't much better is it? Well, better than blaming the girlfriend's medicine I suppose.
The technical term was "deep kissing" if I recall. I wonder if there'll be a bunch of posts and tweets like we saw in reaction to Dibaba.
Faith Kipyegon would've won that race. And she's on maternity leave.
Damn if Team USA gets DQd here. Why are they acting like this is going to be close? Okolo is going to destroy this woman.

I thought about not posting it but people think we are maknig a big deal of it. The average person who doesn't run think it's even worse.
Wow. That Jamaican woman gave Okolo a run for the money.
Ntional records for USA and Jamaica and Poland in women's 4 x 400.
Let's hope our one leg didn't step over the rail. Looks like Moline didn't good.

Probably will. Which is a shame, because that track is too steep and part of the problem.
"Passionate kissing". As if the excuse hasn't hilarious enough.
After all of the 400 DQs this week, why wouldn't Moline paint the outside line of lane 1 like Okolo did to be safe?
Moline has a rep in her event (IH) for being a head case: on several occasions in big moments she has tripped over hurdles in the final straight.
Perhaps not the one you want to put in this situation. Hope result stands.

This intersex garbage has got to end. These women being robbed of medals has gone on long enough.Niyonsaba
Continuing to have intersex men in women's events is a very stupid thing to do.
Jamaica with the DQ in the 4x4
"This woman"? "That Jamaican woman"? You mean world outdoor medallist Stephanie Ann Macpherson?
It's this level of quality analysis I keep coming back for.
Jamaica DQd in women's 4 x 400. COntest has been updated.

Oh great. We had head case stubborn coaches in the relays for a generation, and after we get rid of them we put head case athletes in the finals!
Why did the official put the Ukranian girl in the 2nd position anyway - they were last with a 100 to go and at the changeover. Jamaica were 2nd so I can understand why she moved herself into the second position waiting for the changeover...???
Forgive me if this is a stupid question I am not super familiar with the intricate details of long jump. The second american (Hayes?) keeps landing with her left arm touching down outside of the pit. Shouldn't this make her jump a foul? I would think that any part of your body landing outside the pit would be a foul since it can't be measured properly. Anyone know the actual rule?

The BBC are saying that the official tried to correct the Jamaican's position, but was ignored by the Jamaican athlete. So, they were DQ'ed. This was one DQ that really can't be disputed if that is the case.
The DQs and rule book are a joke. SOmeone said it yesterday. Imagine if this happened in any other sport. Huge officiating calls are made after the fact with no replay shown.
There needs to be a rule. The decision must be made within 30 seconds of the race finishing. If you want to film it from above, that's fine. But a yellow flag/card needs to come up so people can look at a replay.
It would be like eliminating a touchdown in the super bowl without any warning or replay.

In these situations, I think it's important to not blame the individual, they are simply competing in their sport. The IAAF has bungled this scenario for women's athletics.
Let's not blame people who break into houses, they are simply taking advantage of loopholes in security, and likewise for other types of criminals.
