Yeah, final 2k of 5:28.8 for Dibaba. Both Laura Muir and Hassan right at 5:30. Crazy close, considering it was all done in the 800.

Anyone know how I can see my previous picks from the contest? I have no idea if I did well or not yet.

Hopefully Muir learns from this and returns her the favor. Its clear only Dibaba may be slightly better than her.
why do you say that?
muir and hassan were exactly at the same place with 40 m left. that's not a lot of track left to say one is clearly better than the other
?!

Dibaba is just as dirty as Ayana.
Both of these athletes check nearly all of my boxes for dirty.
Let me guess, you’re a middle aged white man and a Trump voter.
Sifan Hassan moved from Ethiopia to The Netherlands. She is managed by Jos Hermens.
(It is just a coincidence that she is on the leaked Fancy bears "Atypical ABP blood test" list.)
Then she moved to Oregon to be coached by Alberto "albuterol-levothroxine-Androgel®-cytomel-intravenous-L-carnitine-salbutamol" Salazar.

If the race is under 8:30, Houlihan is silver or bronze; if it is over 8:30, gold or silver.
2K in 8:28 = 4:00 for 1500, 8:30 for 3K, both well ahead of Houlihan's PRs, definitely put it out of her wheelhouse for now. In fact, Shelby's own last 2k was probably her best PR so far, indoors at least.
I also forgot Obiri was in this. Call me naive :)
Great race by all.

You might want to check your math.

Typo- 5:28 not 8:28

I guess you didn't notice Muir was gaining on her?

You still need a check. 5:28.8 is 2:44.4 per K.
That's 4:07.2 for 1500 and (of course) 8:14.4 for 3K.

I did notice. it's hard to miss.
but Muir would have only out-leaned her or been 1/2 a meter ahead to get second. nothing that would show "it's clear only Dibaba is slightly better than her" like the poster suggested.
There's a big difference between battling to the line for seconds place by fractions of a second and being "clearly better" than someone.
Muir probably got blocked, but nothing about that race showed she is "clearly" better than Hassan.
do you not agree?!

Get to work.
https://www.iaaf.org/news/iaaf-news/scoring-tables-2017I wanted Muir to get past more than most of the Americans here, but I don't think Hassan did anything wrong.
She always runs with her elbows out, people that have seen her run knows she does that even when running solo out in front. It's just her arm swing.
And as for the gliding out of lane 1 into lane 2, I personally don't think that's illegal and if it is it definitely shouldn't be.
The runner in front has worked hard to gain an advantage position, it's madness to say they have to run in a dead straight line for the finish and must no deviate. Does everyone realise that running at a diagonal also increases the distance the athlete in front is running? So if they are tying up it's a risk to run further.
I personally think it's a completely fine tactical move no worse than a bit of barging in the middle of the race.
If you've decided to leave your kick until the last 50m of the race to pass me after using me as a windshield/pacemaker for 1450m then you better prepare to run in lane 6!
Not the meaning of the scoring table. But I never mind finding out what people are thinking.
Did YMMV used to post under a different name(s)? His responses are starting to look familiar.
Q: What’s more boring than Track? A: Field. And I would agree, but loved the way they conducted the High Jump today. Was totally into it despite the lack of any real drama.
Did you actually see the finish? You talk like you read this out of a book. Hassan looked like Blankenship cutting off Manzano in the 2016 Oly trials.
Ha, Ha - Scorpion nobody will keep Ayana out of the mix . But man this year the womens 5k should be great. Personally I dont read too much into indoor races in terms of form outdoors. Obiri looked a shadow of herself in this race, I would have expected her to be rattling Dibaba all the way home. Hopefully Dibaba has put all the Furore of the Jama Aden debacle back in the closet and has her headspace back.
I`ll go out on a limb right now and say Dibaba wont beat Ayana in any distance event this year. - Just wait you are in for a surprise.
