That's my biggest takeaway from this article. I mean, how many times does he say it? Is he not sure, or just still surprised?

Good for him, he is obviously throwing shade at Ben "30" Blankenship

Once wouldn't have been enough? Is he slow, or does he think we are?

Why would Centro care about Blankenship? Ben is almost 40 now and most definitely hasnt showered or shaved since like 1998.
What I get from this is that 30 is staring him in the face and life's big questions are rising to the surface. Not a young buck anymore. 27 is where you really start to feel 30 lurking around the corner.
Adulthood is overrated, Matt! Stay young as long as you can!

At 28, I know a lot of people who would still be calling him a kid (lol he almost looks one too); he's pretty young still, at least enough to get that American record.

Just browse the message boards, and you'll promptly have your answer.

I’d like to believe you misspelled “horde” ironically, but I really don’t think you did.

noun
1.
a stock or store of objects, typically one that is secret or carefully guarded.
synonyms: cache, stockpile, stock, store, collection, supply, reserve, reservoir, fund, accumulation
I’m sure he hasn’t made nearly as much money as he once thought and he’s realizing he wasted his life running.
It is a defense mechanism. He's defensive about why he left Portland to move back east. I wonder if the injury he suffered late in 2017, coupled with all of the other ones was the reason(or a big part of the reason) he decided to move back East. A great follow up to him talking about the injury would have been, you've been injured a few times in the last year, did that play any role in you moving back East?
lol my thoughts exactly
it's not about practice. it's the game. we're talking about the game. the game.
now that i'm 28. i'm 28 now. but yeah, i'm 28.

One of the two meanings of hoard/horde makes sense in this context. It is not the one that corresponds to the chosen spelling.

It's ok to admit you are wrong, Qwero. We all do it.

Ha! I stand by it. A "collection" of tards makes perfect sense to me.

But it’s not the meaning you intended, which is is “horde” (i.e. a large crowd or throng). And “hoard” is not a word that would be used to refer to a group of people. It just doesn’t make sense in that context. Whose “hoard” of people is it? Where is this person hoarding these people, and to what end?
Precise language is important, especially in writing. The way you wrote it makes you seem like a real...t@rd.
Maybe it's like a defensive thing. Maybe after the olympics he started getting ask to prom by juniors in high school because they thought he was 18. So now he needs to declare to the chicas that he is 28!
