Erin Finn. Is she just being a baby or does this tweet have merit to it?

Wow, this may cost Martin Floreani his job.
No one feels sorry for you guys. You're adult athletes, you get a free (or close to it) education, and a fun lifestyle. If you can't handle a negative article then just quit the sport, don't blame the 'journalists.' The funny part is Flotrack is the most pollyanna everything-is-awesome outlet in the sport. They do this and the PC mob comes after them. Lesson: don't try to please the PC police, they will never be satisfied.
Also, THANK YOU Chris Derrick. He used to be such a White Knight on Twitter, maybe he is finally growing a pair. Maybe we should expect him to be "BACK" this season???
Unfortunately, that's exactly what click bait journalism has come to these days. The journalists really do not give a MF about people. Business is more important to them. This is honestly a pretty tame example though. I understand Finn's kneejerk reaction to it, although some may think she does come off as a bit over sensitive here.
Who cares Erin Finn...if you can't handle it, than you can't handle being an athlete. That's what the competition is all about. The same thing is done in football and basketball and nobody complains. It's a sport and you have to be able to compete or handle not making it to the "big dance". She's always getting injured...maybe you could use that for motivation...or you'll be at home watching NCAAs.
I've had the privilege of being blasted on the boards by anons before, and I must say it was thrilling to know that I was important enough to receive hate! One time I even got called in a LRC article for potentially being the downfall of my XC team! I felt like I'd made it!
In my case the hate was always directly about performance though, not about health/appearance/toughness. I can see that getting razzed for that stuff (as Erin has been), might make you feel a bit differently about media criticism.
Personally, I think one of the things that holds athletics back is the feel-good "they tried their best :)" sort of reporting style. I'd rather read something that provides some analysis and criticism of elite performers, like other "Real Sports." There's definitely a line - I don't think it's cool to mock or make light of stuff that may not be the person's choice, but in elite sport there has to be room for debate and analysis, even if this isn't always sunshine and rainbows.
Honestly, I don’t think the article was “kicking” anyone. There was no real judgement or criticism...or analysis of any kind, actually. Just a list of notable athletes who might not be at indoor NCAAS for whatever reason. More than half of them are probably redshirting or injured. It’s not the most interesting article I’ve read, but I think it has at least a little value. Erin’s outrage is unwarranted in this case.
If my name was on the list, I wouldn't get mad or upset. I would never allow an interview.
Flotrack needs elite athletes far more than elite athletes need Flotrack.
No different than NBA, MLB, NHL or NFL posting injury list for the week and who may be out. #whiners
There was nothing wrong with that article.
How entitled of her to think that elite athletes should only get positive reinforcement.

Except they just call it the “injury report” which is 100x more appropriate.
Also, funny how like 80-90% of the comments on Twitter are trashing flotrack, but 80-90% of the ANONYMOUS posts here are trashing Erin.
Chris Derrick just wants to become relevant again. He is no longer a major force in the 10k.
I support Erin and voicing her opinion on Twitter shows that she DOES have balls. She is a great role model.
and he has plenty of time to follow college girls on Twitter. wierd
She has God on her side, though

That’s because people don’t want to get thrashed by the mob. You can’t be speak up against people and tell the truth for better or worse. Hasay found that out when GG and her mob disgracefully attacked her.
Love this girl. Good for her in taking a stance and I hope not running doesn't make her feel like any less of a person. She has done more than any of us could do in this sport. In addition to being a phenomenal athlete she is a scholar majoring in biochem and is also a well-rounded person. Good luck to you Erin!
I can't wait for these SJW's to leave their little bubble of college athletics and academia.... to get a taste of what the real world is like. Such snowflakes
