Good question. No one wants to go out on work nights, mostly, and it gets old.
Hey, maybe I sound like a puritan, but working hard feels pretty good. Honestly, if you can find a balance between the two, that's ideal. And maybe a little trade-off, if your work really is dreadful, maybe a little pay cut is worth it so you don't hate life every minute for the next several years.
At my job, I am as high as you can go given the field I am in. But a co-worker in another department that started the same time as me got promoted to a VP a few years ago. At the time I thought, thank god that isn't me. The required additional hours, late nights, stress, and constant harassment. I knew for sure it was not worth it to me. And to put a closure on it, she had a really rough time and eventually had to leave or probably be fired.
But on the flip side, work can be alright. Depends on your circumstances. Thx. for asking.
