You serious??? What on earth are you hunting with an AR 15? A flock of sparrows? Packs of prairie dogs?? Perhaps I'm ignorant, because I've only hunted birds, but please tell me what you have hunted with an AR 15. You're not seriously hunting deer with AR 15, are you?
They're one of the best guns out there for pigs, which are often not easy to take down with a bolt-action, low-round capacity rifle, especially when they charge you. Watch a few youtube videos and you might understand why.
As a .223 they are usually not legal for deer. But they can be chambered in .308 (see AR-10; the AR-15 can be converted between .223 and .308 fairly easily), which is an excellent deer round. No, it shouldn't take 30 rounds of .308 to knock down a deer, but if you already own an AR, can shoot it well, and don't have the desire/need to purchase a separate deer rifle, why not? That's fewer guns on the streets, after all, and the # of guns out there seems to really matter to liberals.
