Serious question, would you be in favor of banning alcohol to save lives?

I like craft beer and zinfandel though!! You can't take that away! Guns on the other hand, I don't own or care about so you can ban those because they just make violence.
We have already banned impaired driving. It is still ignored by many but has a clear impact on preventing some people's choices from causing harm to others. Next question?

Why not weed?
And crazy people who you know are dangerous?
1. No, we already tried that. Didn't work out too well.
2. Alcohol sales and consumption is highly regulated. Must be 21, which is obviously a few years older than age of legal adulthood. No carrying open containers of alcohol in public. Alcohol is prohibited in many areas.
3. I suspect it is not an entirely serious question and you are trying to make an apples to oranges argument on something else, which also is in no threat of being banned, but should be highly regulated.
Ya wonder how well that worked out before

How many more of these inane threads will we see in the next few days? What's next: sex, walking on city streets, running with scissors?
Is Rojo posting these under anonymous names? Ad revenue down -> troll posts -> more clicks and page views.
How about banning alcohol and not wine?
I would first ban cars and other private motorized transport such as motorbikes etc. This would make society much safer for sure.

It's not only that this has been tried. There are awful health consequences of unregulated alcohol. Speak Easies often added formaldehyde. Speak Easies often used methanol. People on their devices are more dangerous than drinker and drivers. Drinker/drivers are most likely the fifth highest cause of traffic fatalities. Top three: sober speeding, sober illegal lane change & sober fatigued driver. Usually only state trooper are the one's to check to see if one was on their phone/device at time of accident. Not always easy to tell. If one is simply reading a text, how would a trooper know?
Don't you dare f with my cosmopolitan you jerkity jerk.
Ban cars if anything. They kill the most. Alcohol is good for you in moderation and guns are protected by the 2nd amendment.
I'm not in favor of banning ANY substances due to concerns for individual liberties, however if we are going to live in a society that bans drugs, alcohol, marijuana, and strong opiates should be chief among them (marijuana especially). In short: yes, I agree with you.

I would show the CDC chart on gun deaths to counter you, but they're literally prohibited from compiling such results.
I would also add: tobacco, the chief PREVENTABLE cause of cancer and heart disease.

Give me an honest argument why weed should be illegal. I am really curious
I am in favor of stricter drunk driving laws. Get caught drinking and driving and its a minimum 20 years.
I am also in favor of stricter gun laws. I am NOT BANNING GUNS. But stricter gun laws are a no brainer and has little to no effect on most gun owners.
Want to shoot a big fancy dangerous gun? Go to a licensed gun range.
Want to own a big fancy dangerous gun? Sure but only as a collectible.
Want to hunt? Sure, properly registered and licensed gun owner.
Handgun? Again properly licensed and registered.

I do not think any substance should be illegal due to concerns for individual liberties. However, as a physician, I am painfully aware of the ill effects that marijuana has on the brain. In that vein, if we are to live in a country that ignores individual liberties and bans substances based on their health and societal ill effects, marijuana should be at or near the top of the list of banned substances.
