Shelby Houlihan will be running the 1500 and 3000 at Worlds, meaning Shannon Osika’s reaction to landing what she thought was a spot at world’s is all for nothing. Real shame for Osika.

Manzano is going to run for Mexico 2020. You heard it here first, like Torrence for Peru.

Joke's on him...he still will have to hit the A standard
Don’t have an opinion on Osika, but it’s not really a shame since she didn’t come in the top two ...
It's too bad Shelby is so greedy. She will get demolished in the 1500 anyway. So would Osika, but at least it would give a rising young athlete some international experience or at least an opportunity she'll never forget.

This. She doesn't have a qualifier

Qualifier is 4:28.50 for an indoor mile right? She ran 4:27.5 (I think) at the Dr. Sanders Invitational at the University of Michigan's new facility.

The Dr. Sander Invitational is not at the University of Michigan.
Jerry must have changed his mind. The schedule certainly is conducive. Too bad for Shannon, but Shelby is a legit medal shot in either event.
Didn't Osika lose to her in Albuquerque? Shelby was doubling back and was still better than Her?
I vote that we send the best team.

Greedy? Shelby won and EARNED her spot in the 1500m. Osika never earned a top 2 spot, but rather would have been bumped in had Shelby elected not to race. Lose the pity party. Wanna go to Worlds, finish top 2. Simple.
Doesn't sound like she is DEBASTATED.

My bad, I mixed up her race there with the one at the Wolverine Invite.
Interestingly enough, she also ran 4:28.30 there, so that’s two qualifiers

I think it’s great that we send the best team, and I’m not saying that this is unfair in any way, just pointing out that it’s kinda sad she thought she could go to worlds and then found out she wouldn’t be going.

I've got mixed feelings about this. Houlihan certainly earned the right to run both events, and she is a legit contender at worlds at either distance. However, I also feel bad for Osika who is a great runner and well liked on the pro circuit. It's unfortunate that Houlihan initially said she'd probably only run the 3k, which no doubt got Osika's hopes up. And even though it might have turned out differently had the 3rd place finisher been one of Houlihan's BTC teammates, Osika is also a Nike athlete, so it was somewhat surprising that Houlihan didn't seem to factor that in.
At least Osika is young and on her way up, so she'll probably have future opportunities as she continues to get even better.
Chelimo stuck to his word and Engels is going in the 1500.
