Kate Grace's first nationals under Schumacher wasn’t a good one.
In the video below she acknoweldges as much and even discusses whether she's going "home devastated" (it's a LetsRun.com meme).

Grace said she got sick last year with something flu like which probably affected her today. But having said that she said she didn’t want to use that as a total excuse as she admitted the transition to Bowerman hasn’t been easy as the workout are harder and she’s running more mileage. “His workouts are taking a lot out of me. I’m totally not killing them yet. I look at Shelby and the girls who have been there two years and see how incredible they are… I want to give myself the time to be where they are now.”

Very flighty and flaky gal. She always has been. I'd be surprised if she's still in Portland in 2 years.
-
Grace is very sharp and upbeat in that interview, and great analysis.

Somewhat like saying that meldonium taken "last year" might be performance enhancing. -
She does have amazing hair and makes me jealous because of it.

Last "WEEK". Which, if it was the flu, totally explains her inability to perform at altitude in Albuquerque. -

Kate is a great interview. I asked her one simple question and she gave a lengthy, thoughtful response. That is the interviewer's dream. -
I'm devastated that she didn't place haha

Where is Kate Grace (Yale) in the photo???
http://cdn.letsrun.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/houlihan-wins-double.png
Why can't I see Kate in the photo?
Answer:
1) Because Kate is way back in 10th place getting DESTROYED by Shelby Houlihan (Irish) and Colleen Quigley (Irish). -

Interesting. That bug didn't seem to have slowed her down in the Wanamaker.
PS. I know: A virus could have made it harder for her to run two fast races in a row. -
The 2 years to adjust is total BS.
Yes she got beat by people that have been there for 2 yrs. but they were racing well since day 1.
How long has it taken Gwen Jorgensen? -

Probably something she contracted from Wartenburg. -
She should be given more time to adjust to a new training group. Not her fault that she is not sharp.
-
Maybe she is an altitude non-responder? It makes it hard to train, and no real benefits, except feeling very bad. I think Hannah England (or one of the female Brits) had a similar problem at high altitude training camps. She should seriously look in to it.

She is sponsored so she has to perform. It is silly that someone would state that she should be given more time. Anybody who feels that way should put up her sponsorship money.

Kate Grace was a flighty and flaky girl when she was a teenager living in Los Angeles. But she has clearly grown up and grown out of those high school years. Kate has matured into a serious, dedicated professional runner. She works as hard as any world class runner out there. Kate does have the habit of over analyzing and over thinking things. But that is her weakness as well as her strength. Please give Kate Grace the credit she deserves because she has earned it. -

Unless she's changed from how she was at Yale, she's headed to another team, another country, or the random action of the week, sooner than later. -
Should have run the 800

Minor correction: in the interview, she said she got sick last week (not last year). She probably should have scratched but felt pressure to race while less then 100%.
It's normal to adjust to a new coaching system or training group, whether it's HS to college or later. Exhibit A: is Alan Webb's first year (and last) at Michigan.
