Then he did a lengthy interview in Dutch. I know one thing- his Dutch is darn good. Doubt they'll be calling him a "Plastic Dutch" as a result. I wonder how well Hassan speaks Dutch.
On a vaguely related note, does someone like Aregawi speak Swedish at all?
I'm guessing you don't speak Dutch, so how can you tell if his Dutch is "darn good"? Hissan moved to the Netherlands in 2008, when she was 15, and became a citizen in 2013 and (seems) to speak the language well enough.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtAiixb0VU4I did find a longer interview where they have subtitles for her, so maybe she has a pretty strong accent that can make some words hard to understand at times.
Aregawi supposedly only lived in Sweden from 2009-2012 (according to wikipedia), receiving citizen in 2012, but at some point remarried and lives back in Ethiopia now. You can't really conflate Aregawi and Hissan, since from the little I know Aregawi would be susceptible to the "plastic [insert country here]" charge. I've read that her Swedish wasn't very good, as of 2013 at least.
