Coburn continues to show that she can't do anything but steeple.
Always getting blown away in flat track events.

Blown away? Why are people so stupid here? Gosh damm
Laurne Paquette led a pack of 6 until Coburn started pushing with 800 to go.
At 400 to go it was a 3 person race. Coburn, Katie Mackey and Shelby Houlihan.
Houlihan struck just before bell and it was all over. Great final lap. Mackey then got ahead of Coburn and held her off the entire last lap to make the Worlds team.

That's what I was thinking. Every steepler just took a bit of humble pie. The WORLD CHAMPION in the steeple loses to a woman who had never made a US team before right? If this Mackey's first team? Congrats to her.
Coburn's running faster this year than ever before.

the Gold guys have been using both metric and imperial, which im ok with.
Also MASSIVE upset in the PV. Sam Kendricks cant clear 5.83 and scott Houston scores the win with an overall PB (and counting).
28 second last lap for Houlihan. Not surprised to see Mackey take 2nd in a tactical race. Was surprised by Coburn’s kick and how close she kept it to Mackey.

at the same time, a steepler is probably the favorite in the mile, so i wouldnt be so quick to judge all steeplers in the flat.
Also for all of the criticism NBC takes (and rightly so in a lot of cases), the NBC gold broadcast has been pretty good tonight. Splitscreens, no commercials, using imperial along with metric for field events, and the professionalism of tim hutchings leading it all. If they do this all year for the ad-free (or use the euro broadcast like they did last year), it will be worth the money.

A week after winning 3k steeple gold, she loses by 20 seconds in a flat 3k.

It's just not a good look for her.
The WCAP guys obviously work super hard, and they seem nice. But seeing them run today sort of breaks my heart for the US born boys. Really breaks my heart. Maybe I'm awful.
A bit disappointing that Marielle was so far back :/

I'm pulling for Hill/Heath. More even running, they'll be sharper.
"It's almost like they're working together, sharing the pace." Are you kidding me? How did we get stuck with these idiots?

Why? The US born athletes are lucky to have these guys to show them what real running is supposed to look like. If y ouwant to be the best, you need to beat the best.

I thought it was a pretty astute observation.
will be curious to see if there is an appeal for that clip between kipchirchir and hill on the last curve, i couldnt tell if shadrack had enough room to cut in or not.
Not getting blown away this indoor season though, these arnt no names to anyone who follows the sport in this country a little either especially Houlihan

I enjoyed this 3000 men's race way better than a 2600 jog and 400 dash we might have had without the Army team

I want a replay. Looked to me like Hill just pushed him. They were close, but I don't think Kipchirchir cut him off.
As a Navy veteran, I will admit that I get irritated when I see Chelimo salute when he crosses the finishing line. Who exactly is he saluting? Himself for winning?
Bummed that Ryan Hill didn't finish the top 2.
Shocked at Scott Houston win over Sam Kendrick in the pole vault.
